  3. Great stuff.....here's a bit of a an eating/drinking list for you.... 'Eight Stony Street' for good lunch/dinner/wine shop 'Bistro Lotte' also for good quality buzzy French lunch/dinner (super galettes). She also now has Bar Lotte just round the corner which does good cocktails and bar food, sharing plates etc. Top end of town up Catherine Hill towards Badcox....10 minute amble at most though. 'Fat Radish' in the high street is also very good although a little pricey. They often do theme nights and taster menus. 'The High Pavement' on Palmer St is great for Tapas. Very casual and very popular. 'Jhalmuri' also on Palmer St is the best Indian in town. 'Castello' again on Palmer St is good for Italian. Also very casual. Good service. Very popular. 'The Archangel' on King St....reasonably upmarket bar/restaurant/hotel with nice rooms. One of the only places in middle of town with a nice outside space. Buzzy in the evening particularly at weekends. 'The George Hotel'......traditional market town pub/hotel in the middle of town. Decent pub grub, Wadworth ales and rooms. 'The Three Swans' on King St.....prob best pub in town centre.....good crowd, dogs, kids etc. 'Brewed Boy' on Cork St.....small but good craft ale place.....tiny outdoor space at back but popular. 'Palmer St Bottle' on Palmer St......another good craft ale spot with decent grub too. 'The Garden Cafe'.....popular veggie/vegan spot on Stony St 'Moo & Two'.....hipster cafe with artisan coffee and cakes half way up Catherine Hill on right. 'Grain Bar'.....cafe and bar with outside terrace space at the famous Cheese & Grain. Things to do......Pilton is an 8 mile drive to the West so an amble round the lanes trying to spot bins and the Pyramid is a must. Nunney village just 2 miles out of town has its own castle which is worth a visit (the George Hotel there does decent grub too...). Mells village is also only 3 miles from town.....very pretty village with a lovely church with historic graves (Siegfried Sassoon, and various Bonham-Carters are buried here) and the Talbot Inn is very nice. Got a meeting now but I'll post more later.....if you need it! Hope you have a super time......oh and if you are here the first Sunday of Oct/Nov/Dec we have a great market all day where middle of town is closed off and there is craft, farmers market, vintage market, street food, live music etc. Worth scheduling your visit for it.....known as the 'Frome Independent' market.

  12. I didn’t see any checks made but I’ve got grey hair and a beard so am probably not the best yardstick. Super duper early birds all sold out. Still a steal at £35.

  18. They posted on Twitter a few days ago that Settlers Upgrades will be available at the gate. I have a standard ticket but I am waiting until nearer the time (and the weather forecast) to decide whether to do Settlers. We are lucky to have friends with a house half an hour away so we will go down to Wales for the week whatever.

  23. We suspect its going to be three weekends, so probably up to five - the two remaining days after Elton and then the weekend in between him and Pearl Jam.

  24. Just looking at the 2006 Leeds lineup. I remember seeing FF headline the Sat and Muse headline the Sunday, but cannot for the life of me remember where I was on the Friday. I know I didn't see Pearl Jam because they don't interest me and wouldn't have bothered with Maximo Park. Best guess is that I was off my nut at Soulwax.

  30. It was so good. Great weather, and such a friendly fun crowd. No queues at bars or loos, for those bothered about such things. 3 stages with so much room. Not a bad booking all weekend, it was hard to decide which stage to be at. The new site ( where Blissfields used to be in Winchester) is perfect for the festival. I’ve sent the review to Neil last night so that should be up soon.

  34. And, while I'm here... Hope i'm not monopolising things too much, but just wanted to back up the praise for Bicep's current show. They've taken a huge step up, and really seem on their way to becoming genuine legends. The visuals are stunning, the way they weave through their whole back catalogue is superb, and it's a really amazing show. If you get the chance, go see them. As for their Glasto placing, I think they're in a bit of a tricky place now... I really don't think the set up at The Park would do the visuals justice, but they're not at the level of Other Stage headliner when the likes of Dua Lipa, Pet Shop Boys, QOTSA and even The Strokes are being mentioned. Think it would have to be West Holts.

  35. Also the tram line t5 runs all night during the festival so is good place to stay near.

  36. The rule of thumb is generally anywhere along the yellow metro line (L4) which runs to the site, or within an easy change of that, is best. Nothing too far out as the metro only runs late hours on Fri/Sat nights: Thursday the vast majority of people walk back, grab a cab, cycle, etc. Be aware the festival may run a little later than you're used to – headliners often only on at 12/1am and then other popular acts on other stages afterwards. Forum is towards the edge of the city and most visitors stay further back into the centre of town near the touristy stuff, around 30-60 minute walk. There are shuttle buses that run to and from but it's not a huge operation so most find alternate ways to get to and from the site.

  39. Now I love my bedford cf but you got to remember... THAT.... She is a bedford cf lol. We had a weekend to ourselves so went out to the forest.. Had a nice night out with lots cider and fish and chips.. Drove back no worries apart from I had accidentally started the whilst she was in gear.... Anyway got home and had to park a bit down the Rd.. Then when the Rd was clear I went to the start her up... Nothing but a horrible engine banging breaking up noise... Anyway cut long story short I got a message from a friend who told me to pop in 1st gear and rock her... This I did and you know what.. She's 40 years old she's a fucking BEDFORD Cf and she started.. Wooop. I'm taking her in tomo for a check up but hey they dont build them like this any more old sons... Ooo and baby Eliza is fast asleep on her sleepover.. And now we start a new week

  43. I've not been putting too much thought into this (I know, I know - why am I here? Get off of efests, heathen!) because I figure .. no use getting excited like i was for Kendrick/Macca/Taylor as it is so far out and could all just get blown up again. But it just crossed my mind, the thought of how hyped, how buzzing I would be for DAYS after seeing Macca live, all those immortal tunes ringing through my head, the combined joy of tens of thousands of people sweeping me off my feet... And to think of having that. And then maybe sleeping for a few hours. Floating through the next day and then POW - now you're seeing Elton fucking Hercules John? I'm not sure how my tiny mind is going to handle so much dopamine being released in such a short space of time.
