  1. Did Andover Trail Marathon yesterday. 4:50:30 Not bad for a slow old plodder like me. Pretty hilly too. It's my 'home town' trail marathon and it's the third time i've done it. Which makes it even more baffling that i managed to get lost. Actually ran 27.2 miles. What a tit. #technicallyanultramarathon

  2. I finally had time to pick up the paint & brushes again! For your viewing pleasure; a currently unnamed new Glastonbury painting! It might not even be finished yet but it had been on the easel in my kitchen mocking me for months! Acrylic paint on 40cmx51cm canvas panel 😁

  3. I have so much love for this festival and cannot express how much admiration I have for the organisers and staff for the tireless work they put in to make it happen. We had an absolutely amazing time, saw some incredible music, met up with a load of great people and drank and ate very well indeed. Highlights: Warmduscher, Lice, Crack Cloud, Little Simz, Just Mustard, Wu-Lu (my word, those last few songs and the drummer's epic stagedive) Stereolab, Kikagaku Moyo, Lazarus Kane (please don't stop now), PVA. Being back at Larmer Tree, I think this is the 15th festival I've been to on that site going back to Big Chill's in the 90's and it never loses its charm and magic. Other stuff: Beer was decent and I didn't miss Beavertown's wallet busting prices. Enough food although a couple of stalls were sorely missed. Shout out to Dosa, Curry Shed and Persian Street Food all of who were excellent. Stranger Than Paradise. Please have them back next year instead of Rough Trade again. A proper independent shop with amazing staff. Really loved what they did this year. The wooded area was so lovely again, it's beautiful to wander around at night when it really comes alive. Toilets weren't up to Andy Loos standard but I didn't have too many issues as long as I took my own bog roll. Can someone have a word with whoever picks the frankly awful music blaring from the Cider Bus on Thursday night? I love drifting off to sleep with the hubbub of festival noise in the background but when it's the only thing playing until 3am and 80% of it is utter shite it's really quite annoying. They obviously had issues with the crew wifi which meant some places reverted to cash only. Didn't bother me as I had plenty on me but can see how it would have impacted others and also the trade of the businesses. The people. We all know things are a bit shit in the world so a huge group hug to the amazing crowd who contribute towards make EOTR such a beautiful festival. It was genuinely heartwarming to see so many happy, smiling faces around. Big love to you all.

  4. Thread police, arrest this man, He talks in touring patterns, he bimbles like a hippy, He's like a detuned radiohead. Thread police, arrest this girl, Her Hayley Williams hairdo is making me feel ill, And we have crashed her party for one. This is what you'll get, This is what you'll get, This is what you'll get, When you mess with eFests. Thread police, I've given all I can, It's not enough, I've given a 5 stage Glastonbury prediction, But we're still on less than 15 rep points. This is what you'll get, This is what you'll get, This is what you'll get, When you mess with eFests. For a minute there, I lost myself, I lost my goan fish curry. Phew, for a minute there, I lost myself, I lost myself. For a minute there, I lost myself, I lost myself. Phew, for a minute there, I lost myself, I lost track of who was ruled out of Glastonbury 2022 and embarrassed myself in the headliners thread.

  8. Great festival again and means so much to meet up with many wonderful friends. Echo everything @benaliposted along with most of the same bands. Wasn’t sure going into the Jonny Greenwood set but stood mesmerised by the skill of his players; that pianist! I went much too hard on Saturday finishing with Chubby and Giant Swan so was pretty well done for by 10pm last night. Billy No Mates was outstanding as was WH Lung who I’d not seen before; Big Top was a sauna by then and even they looked like they were struggling with the heat. Simz was just so good; goosebumps. Had the whole crowd onboard from what I could tell down the front anyway. Will defo try to see Big Joanie again after there ace Teepee set. Oh and although some mentioned her voice or maybe the sound in the Garden stage Arlo Parks blew me away.

  10. Can imagine a few things being at play here. Some people just can't see beyond the status quo, can't imagine that things could be different. It's always been 5 days a week (I know, it hasn't but you know what I mean) so it always should be. Probably also some who realise they'd have nothing to fill the time with if they weren't at work. Jealousy too. "I had to spend the last 30 years working 5 days a week, why should the next lot get away with doing less?" Even though they'd benefit too they don't like the idea that someone else will benefit more And some people are just miserable sods who like calling anything they don't like or understand 'lefty nonsense'

  14. "For many years, I’ve struggled with 'Too Rye Ay'. I was never happy with many of the mixes on the record. Tracks like Eileen, and one or two others were really good, but with most others, while I felt the performances were really good, that didn’t come over properly in the mixes. "I even felt fraudulent promoting the album, because I knew it didn’t sound as good as it should have. "And of course, the irony was, it was by far our most successful Dexys album, because of the worldwide success of Come On Eileen. I knew there were other songs on there just as good as Eileen, but they hadn’t been realised properly. "So, I was absolutely delighted to get this opportunity to remix the album with the masterful Pete Schwier who has worked with Dexys since 1985 and Helen O' Hara (Original violinist on the album), is also helping. "I'm so into doing this album, that we are doing shows to promote it, next year, where we will play the whole of the album from start to finish, as well as other Dexys favourites. "There is no way on earth I would be doing this tour or even promoting a normal 40th anniversary re-issue, if it wasn't for the opportunity to remix it and present it how it could have sounded. This is like a new album for me. It is an absolute labour of love. I want people to hear the album as it was meant to sound." https://www.stereoboard.com/content/view/232848/9

  17. Believe What I Say is one of the best things on there easily! I liked it on release and have only gotten fonder with each listen. I never listen to the part 2s, and a few other tracks could get the chop (Junya, 24, Tell the Vision off the top of my head), and there’s still a certain element of ‘unfinished-ness’ to the whole thing with some of Kanye’s verses/vocal input unfortunately seeming like a bit of an afterthought, but there are some incredible songs here, with Jail, Off the Grid, Believe What I Say, Remote Control, Jesus Lord, Lord I Need You, Pure Souls and Come to Life being peak Kanye imo. Come to Life has me nearly welling up with each listen; so good.

  21. How were your sober experiences? I actually had to drop out of the festival for a personal reason which was disappointing, although it did mean I could attend Wide Awake on the Friday so wasn't a complete loss. So having attended a number of gigs and festivals sober now, I love things like not spending a small fortune on alcohol (£6.50 a pint in some places now!) and not spending half the day queuing for that privilege as well. I also like not having to go to the toilet after every band I see...basically my time is now primarily based around the music, whereas before it was based around drinking (although don't get me wrong, it was still massively about the music too). I will say one thing though...it is certainly a lot more noticeable now annoying drunk people are when you're sober. Not criticising one bit though as I've had almost 20 years of being like that myself.

  23. Hope you all had a great time and get hone safely. Feeling sorry for the poor bastards that have work today! Met up with a few eFesters - @March Hare @ShakeyCrash @ian the worm @Losing my hair and some random girl probably not worth mentioning coz she only has two posts and 0 rep (Jk, ILY). It was fantastic, such great people and they helped make my weekend. ♥️,.... If you encountered anyone going absolutely HAM at the weekend - am talking taps aff, dancing like a madman - then it was probably me.

  24. Yeah, I think it’s the case of there not being much of a better place to just get shitfaced, fucked up and let loose with little to no authority stopping you from being a dickhead than at a festival, so a lot of people will buy tickets with a middling interest in some of the acts playing to do just that, and the addition of music happening in the background is a nice bonus. APE being in the centre of London presumably makes it a hot target for these kinds of people as it’s just a short journey back home/in to town afterwards.

  30. Feel like my reading funk is well and truly binned. Read The Women of Troy this weekend and loved it just as much as the first - considering the entirely dire context, it was a real joy to be reacquainted with Briseis' voice. Then I was able to finally finish something I'd been reading since last year, just a little book by the National Trust on different traditions and folklore of Britain. Now my tablet is loaded with books I am excited to read again. Just can't wait to finish work and get stuck in.

  33. Spoiler free: tonight was absolutely breathtaking. First time I've seen Nick Cave live and he, Warren and the band did not disappoint. The first show our local theatre has seen since March 2019 and I dare say one of the best ones they'll have in a long, long time. Anyone else with tickets for this tour is in for a treat.

  34. I took my daughters 8 & 10 expecting to tolerate some pop music. I spent the evening alternating between both girls on my shoulders so they could see. We soon just back from the mixing desk (back then there was a big screen at the back of the desk) so the 'grounded' girl could still see the show. Being Sunday I was already knackered by then but was blown away by a fantastic performance from Beyonce. It changed my view of popular music and made great memories with my girls. We still talk about it today and they're a fair bit older!

  36. First time back in a club last night since Glitterbox at Printworks in March 2020. Suitably enough, it was Glitterbox again but at Ministry this time out. Man, I have missed the roar of the crowd when a banger drops. And last night there were plenty of them. So good to be back!

  38. So where does this sit in the rankings of long, long awaited comeback records? I can only think of: The Beatles Bowie The Stone Roses Blondie Guns N' Roses At the moment, I'm ranking it similar to Blondie (who to be fair weren't away all that long), better than The Beatles, but not quite as good as Bowie. I'm utterly unqualified to judge Axl+co, but I hear their comeback was rubbish. Who have I missed? Surely some other acts have had lengthy gaps before returning with actual new music?

  40. He tends to have 2 or 3 day breaks between shows. He's doing BST on the Friday, and Swansea the following Wednesday. Now, if he fancied doing a high-profiled prestigious show, somewhere between those two venues with days to spare either side, it could well be on...

  42. As far as I've seen every festival this year has had bad feedback on the toilets. I gather a lot of the big suppliers are being used at testing and vaccination sites and obviously given the short notice of 100% confirmation everyone's had beggars can't be choosers but...

  43. Well goodbye to the best toilets award. None in boutique area (not that it matters as fences are missing) and the ones shared with quiet area are already empty of bog roll and have plenty of unflushed surprises. People are animals.

  44. Honestly surprised by how many people are saying Jamie XX has been awful, I saw him as sunday tent headliner at Boardmasters the other week and was quite happy with it considering I didn't know much of his own stuff etc. Seemed everyone else liked it too - nothing groundbreaking but a fair headline set. Same here, managed to grab some tickets today for £30 each for the thursday - driving back from Alton Towers that day so hopefully not too exhausted but I am nothing short of excited.

  45. what an odd festival, never been to one in london before but HOLY SHIT why the hell does everyone fucking talk THROUGH EVERYTHING?!?! wtf . It didnt help the jamie xx set was possibly the worst headline set ive ever been to and ive seen him headline stages before and be brilliant, but other than weird fishes and 1 or 2 other moments it was boring AF and i was near the front where nobody was dancing at all. Also which genius decided to hide the water points in some maze like structure so you can never find them? Bicep was good visuals and decent enough atmosphere , i was in the first barrier for foals and had a good time. caribou were awesome too. My highlighht was Fred Again in the northeast tent. really enjoyed that (especially playing frank ocean - channel). but i dont think ill ever do a london festival again if thats what its like.
