  1. Fuck it...I've got a rare night to myself this evening...if I'm not feeling too rough after my second jab later, I might pop my head in...why not, eh?

  3. Squid?!?!? Best act on the line-up by a margin. They were immense at Latitude. If you haven't listened to Bright Green Field your in for a treat. There's not many bands making music like Squid right now, they're something pretty special.

  4. If so, let’s start the Girl in Red promotion here. Shuffle up Wolf Alice and Youngblud, Girl in Red under them, someone else to headline the FR 👍🏼

  7. Alternatively, new acts don't have to deal with the preconceptions and scrutiny of a fanbase who think they know better than the artist what they should be doing.

  9. Just had our first wander about the site ,and first beer it’s utterly magical being back on the farm. And seeing all the kids enjoying themselves. Got a pyramid view from the tent and had my first experience of the compost lavs as they are always too busy during the festival

  14. A crude test when an artist does something a little bit different is to ask yourself: if you heard this from a nobody newcomer, would you still give a shit?

  17. The best bits of this album plus the bangers from Melodrama and Pure Heroine and you've got yourself a hell of a sub slot sir.

  18. Lots of horrific clashes, but to a degree that’s a consequence of managing to pull together a decent line-up. As far as day splits go, there’s limited scope to ask bands to play specific days, given that EotR is often just one date amongst many that need to be managed as a whole tour. Not to mention real life factors too. This year more than any, the organisers deserve loads of credit and leeway for putting something, anything, on. And we all deserve a cracking festival. Put the minor EotR changes or inconveniences to one side, we’ve had more than enough really significant stuff to deal with over the past 18 months.

  19. Not thrilled with those splits got to be honest Fair enough it's the weakest line up for years cos of covid but sticking all the hottest acts on the sunday, when lots of people are taking it steady for the drive home at that, Well, ain't ideal is it.

  20. I always forget EOTR show the latest films first on the listing and thought they were showing "Midsommar" to a tent full of toddlers on Sunday morning for a moment.

  25. The rumours of Machine Gun Kelly and Post Malone dropping out is nothing more than unverified social media gossip at the mo so I wouldn’t worry about either until it’s 100% confirmed. I wouldn’t be surprised if one or both will be on stage next weekend.

  26. I don't remember BBCC going big on it wow. In my opinion its unfair to say they are booked because of tiktok though - they are big upcoming acts that have blown up - it doesn't really matter where they blow up. not saying you are saying this but tiktok gets treated with such a stigma but its acted as a platform for so much alternative music to grow from, stuff that just wouldnt come through normally as its so un-chart. Maneskin is a massive booking right now, just a few weeks back they had 3 songs in the top 20.

  31. i love the bloody tipi, and the garden stage - not so keen on woods - lacks atmosphere, and the big top acts can be a bit techno! discuss!

  32. That’s worked out much better than I feared……some of the artists I’d like to see are in the Tipi, and I hate the bloody tipi but the rest of it looks ace, and I won’t be be anywhere near the bands I have no interest in. gonna be belting

  33. I think she’s gonna play more than one song from this album though.

  34. i’m a massive lorde fan but reading the worst reviews has you believe this is a one note, one instrument (acoustic guitar) album and it isn’t! it’s a great record imo. also the overhating of jack antanoff feels a bit sexist to me? implying basically that all these women had no input whatsoever and are just handmaidens!!

  35. Melodrama and Solar Power are chalk and cheese. Café Terrace at Night is a beautiful painting but I wouldn't want to see it again only painted with different colours. I get the reaction because a lot of people really connected with that record but don't connect with the things that she is saying and the way she is saying them now. In some instances that wouldn't necessarily matter. Thinking about it, if I'm in a gallery I might come across an artwork that I really love. If I then read the interpretation, or listened to the artist talk about the work, I might realise that I have no idea what they are talking about but that wouldn't particularly impact my experience of the work. In this case though, there's a shared language between the the music and the promotion of it. Everything Lorde does is thematic and carefully curated. The newsletters (which I'd take with a pinch of salt), the videos and the way in which she speaks about the record, all contributes to supporting and building on the world the record creates. It just so happens that not only is it not resonating with a lot of people, it is rubbing them up the wrong way, big time. Very good record in my opinion though.

  36. Yeah those first couple of sets in the Garden each day are generally my favourite part of the festival.. Doesn't look much to go at this time Edit: actually Anna B Savage first up on Sunday will probably hit the spot

  37. By far by biggest disappointment is that there's almost no-one I want to see early to mid afternoon in the Garden. Not having a moan because covid but it's for sure the weakest lineup for years in the end for me with not really any international acts there.

  38. Not sure how that compares to the original plan, but those dates are more encouraging than I would have guessed. Looking good for more open travel next year, Just this current blip to get through...

  45. Loved Beavertown being there, but got mightily fed up with the bar to the right of the Garden which was always taking about 20 minutes to get a beer, always seemed to be running out or have technical problems, pumps breaking down and the like. Hope they get a decent replacement.

  48. I was so stoked to see them again and that 2018 show was one of the dreariest messes I've ever seen. Say what you want about a band like The Killers just playing to the crowd... sometimes you GOTTA play to the crowd.

  49. They view vaccination as the game changer. Until they've reached at least 70% of the population being vaccinated, their approach is going to focus on cases, and that will mean sporadic lockdowns where outbreaks occur for the next few months. It sounds like your family here have some strong views on the subject, but I think it's a stretch to say anyone is "drunk on power" or to describe the situation as tyrannical. The fact is that it's proven to be a successful way of keeping cases extremely low. It can come at great cost to personal freedom and the economy, and we should not be in this situation, but that's not the fault of State premiers who make decisions about lockdowns - it's the incompetence of the federal government's vaccination roll out. We have 3-4 months of this to go, then I think we'll all need to brace ourselves and let Covid do its thing. That will be an enormous adjustment for people here and in NZ - we're in a completely difference headspace to the UK and most other countries who've had high case numbers and huge amounts of death. But the vaccines work, and we will need to hold on to that.
