  1. The truth is we have no idea how many cases a day we have that's for a plethora of reasons. People don't know they have it so don't get tested, people can't get tests, the delay in turning the results around. Factor in that some of the ONS stuff is predictions. I'm not saying believe everything, but equally to be so distrusting of ordinary every day folk must be hard work. The people working at ONS, NHS Digital, NHS X etc... Are just ordinary people doing their job and the best they can in some very trying circumstances. Short of being sensible, and keeping an eye for your loved one

  2. Good news is that my daughter came round earlier to inform me that I'm going to be a grandfather and I couldn't be happier. She's had a shit year because they were supposed to be getting married in August and have postponed that until next August so it was lovely to see her looking so happy.

  4. So does that mean the BBC will be showing highlights of this pandemic when we are all locked down during the next one?

  5. Yeah it's so difficult to get a handle on it. Such a shit position to be living in when you can't trust your government to even report on what's going on properly.

  8. Isn't the joke about the power dynamic between Cummings and the Cabinet, not ha ha kinky gays. If you remove Cummings and just Photoshop Boris's head onto someone in fetish gear then it's unlikely to be being passed around the Tory MP's WhatsApp groups as there isn't really a joke there.

  10. I've been living through it, Stockport had about a month off, but it's been nothing like the first proper lock down. All shops open, pubs+gyms open, schools back, travel wherever you like for as long as you like. There have been measures certainly, and to impose these elsewhere would probably feel like a "lockdown", especially the not having people round part, but it doesn't feel like a lockdown to me.

  11. The Daily Express are wrong about everything all of the time. It's sort of their signature. For evidence, look at every "Frozen hellscape winter coming" and "Record temperatures coming" front pages that they do ALL the frickin time. I basically pack an umbrella if the Express is predicting sun and hellscape winter means I can keep the summer jacket on til spring.

  12. I’m staying on the the steanbow park estate (we have to get to our lodging via red gate). We are allowed to walk on the paths and we got close to this today. all the worthy farm points were blocked off and we didn’t go on to them. As you can see it was wet.

  13. Yeah, much improved, energy returning and the aches have now gone, throat feels less ragged, just a bit headachey and dizzy, tight chest and the occasional quite frightening extended coughing fit where it's hard to get any inbound breath. I've only got one functioning lung and experience chest pain and coughing fits are quite normal for me, but this has been very different to moving mucous, dry and hard to catch any breath. But I'm good, I've had a test, daughter dropped shopping on the doorstep and I'll be back at work tomorrow evening (at home, in comfort, just answering customer email

  14. I consider myself to be a pretty calm and collected person but whenever I think about how much this gang of crooks have fucked up (and still continue to fuck up) over the course of this pandemic and how they continue to not be held accountable, it fills me with an ire I’ve never felt for anything before in my life. When will they be held accountable!? I say I am calm and collected because surely there are people far less calm and collected than I am who must be filled with incandescent rage. Basically what I’m saying is, is that the more they get away with, the only way I can see the

  15. 10s of thousands of employees across the uk are losing there jobs simply because it's hard to run a business in a pandemic. Hardworking, often treated like crap by terrible companies and egotistical bosses, but put their heads down and work a 9-5 or longer a week. But the government, makes mistake after mistake, costing thousands of lives and billions of pounds, fuck up education, health track and trace, don't understand their own rules and can't publish their own data and yet the only Tory Ministers punished where the ones who didn't let Domcum off the hook. If these people aren't

  18. Yes think not having tickets and some things going on in my life (and of course globally) have just left me pondering today just how long it might me before I manage to get back on the farm. My friend who is part of our resale group also was diagnosed with Covid this week thankfully she seems to be just having a "feels like flu" version rather than anything more serious but everything combined has just left me in a weird place.

  27. Yes just watched all 9 episodes ( but sure why only 9 usually it’s 8 or 10!) . It’s a bit weird- I never read the book ( at least I don’t think I have) so I assume it’s a modernised version. It was a bit confusing and the ending was a bit meh. It swings from sex orgies to violence and pill popping computery social connections. Not so Brave or New really.

  31. Not exactly quaking in my boots but definitely having reservations as it is impolite to call someone directly a liar and the phrase "I'm afraid to say" is used to convey such reservations rather than to indicate genuine terror.

  32. Quoting the above comment that said it was being shared by Tory MPs. Political cartoons don't get a free pass. It's rooted in deep stereotypes of the gay community. It is homophobic.

  34. Mentally I’ve never felt better, weird thing to say during a global pandemic. At the beginning of lockdown my kids went to stay with their grandma as my son needed shielding and both myself and my wife were essential workers, going to and from work driving through a deserted city centre and not seeing my kids could have buckled me but it did the opposite and mentally toughened me up, it hasn’t gone away since

  44. Both sets are breaking the rules, but in terms of the evidence of which is worse it should not be for you or me "to say". Let us glance at the available evidence. Given the party people were not wearing masks if the person on the train was wearing a mask then yes they are massively less likely to transmit an infection than the party members (if one of them is a-or-pre symptomatic, they'll almost certainly infect the rest). So if transmission risk is your metric for "bad" the party was vastly worse than the train. STUDY #1 - the CDC did a study over 140 clients of two Covid-infected h
