  1. So this is probably too personal but a few of you know that I can struggle with my moods and anxiety. Today I decided to get professional help and have self referred to have some Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in a hope that I can learn why I struggle so badly with my sexual orientation and confidence, and then learn how to help myself. Fingers crossed this will prove to be a worthwhile step.

  3. Christ on a bike, can you two please give it a rest? It wasn't a personal attack on you Ozanne, it just questioned the validity of an article that you put up for discussion. Given the nature of mainstream media reporting, it's not a bad shout to look past the headlines a bit. This thread is depressing enough without wading through pages of sniping as well.

  8. I've finally gathered up the courage to at least enquire about re-joining the gym next week. I joined the gym back in march to help with my depression and anxiety, but the lockdown thwarted my attempt literally the same week. Hoping I can get the ball rolling again and nothing stops me this time.

  14. I think it’s the Life Scientific on Radio 4. Interviewing Sarah Gilbert. There’s also a really interesting series on Radio 4 called vaccines, money and politics which talks all about the COVID-19 vaccine development. Christ I’m getting old. I’m 29 and I’m listening to far too much Radio 4 😂

  15. Might be wrong but I'm pretty sure I said they're a safe booking for Download. Lots of bookings that are safe for Download are not safe for other major festivals - in fact, a safe Download booking is someone who has headlined Download before at this point. @rawaudioinputis explaining this better than I can so I should probably step aside but the days of sorting headliners into tiers for major festival headliners, medium-sized festival headliners, etc. are gone, surely? Six headliners at R+L, the biggest due to headline Latitude this year and the smallest Tramlines and Lovebox. TRNSMT has

  16. Controversial take here but no chance. I am a massive Lorde fan but I see her more of a Robyn type than a top billing artist. I worry that her leaving 5+ years gaps between albums for an artist of her size is just not smart career wise. She has a moderate sized fanbase but outside of that I reckon a lot of people have somewhat moved on from her. If Lorde comes back she could headline other stage or maybe even JP but not the pyramid. Shes old news but I don’t think she cares about it.

  18. We need this new Lorde record. She is right there in the headliner conversation when it comes out and I’d have her at the top of my list of fresh acts to headline. Recently picked up Melodrama on vinyl and it really is one of the top records of the decade. Watching back the Other set as well and she’s just a superstar.

  29. Vaccines have to go through testing, production has to ramp up, distribution has to be scaled up, and there will be strict prioritisation regarding the people who get the virus first - front-line health care, at-risk sectors, elderly, etc. Even once a vaccine gets approved, the scale of production and vaccination is simply enormous. Smallpox and polio eradication took decades, and those are the only comparable efforts I can think of. This means it'll take a long time for a vaccine to get to the kinds of people who go to music festival, ie, healthy young people. (Old farts like myself won'

  34. That is interesting, as it's definitely at odds with what I see! But I guess there's a lot more to it than just mask/no mask so it's hardly a controlled experiment! Thinking about people in general, maybe it's more likely to be attention span! The wearing of masks is relatively new, whereas they've been telling us to maintain distance and wash our hands for 6 months now, so people just forget they've still got to do it. One thing I've realised as I've got older is that I'm now far more accepting of the fact that people as a collective species are idiots. Whether it's simplistic pop

  35. No because if you magically improved everyone's intelligence 100-fold the population would be less likely to vote stupid but it would still be true that 50% were below average. More interesting would be the spread of the population's intelligence but intelligence is a very tricky concept to measure. In terms of voting stupid I think looking at people's susceptibility to emotional arguments would be interesting, I don't think it is just intelligence that is involved there, plenty of intelligent people think much less rationally when they feel very strongly about something.

  37. It's a weird thing to say as it doesn't actually mean anything it is a tautology, by definition 50% of the population are less than average on anything. Saying 50% of the population have less than average intelligence as a way of trying to say voters are dumb is like saying 50% of the population are lower than average height as a way of trying to say the population is short.

  41. Shouldn’t be. The celebration of the first Glastonbury Festival after a year (or years) of misery and uncertainty is going to be a fuck of a lot bigger than it being fifty years since the first one which no c**t going went to. For real, thinking about ‘the 50th’ now makes it seem silly that we were amped for this ‘bigger lineup than ever’ bash when the lineup matters little in comparison to just getting back there now.

  42. Parklife is like a big bag of sweets, but 13 is like a really fine wine. Terrible analogy, but the point is, as great at Parklife was at the time, it's 13 that still satisfies me now years later and gives me more from repeated listens. Parklife reminds me of the joy of being 16 and on holiday, but there's nothing else to extract from those songs that I didn't get many, many years ago.

  43. Finally caught up after months of lock down forgetting to look in. BMTH are still pish and not worthy of tying Parkway's shoe laces. PD will headline, BMTH won't. I'll check out the new Biffy album, probably, although I've never listened to any of their others. Still seen them about 10 times though and they have always been entertaining. They're no maiden but they'll do just fine. I'm finding it hard to see past Electric Wizard against Kiss but if it's Placebo I'll be there. Actually I'd rather spend the entire Kiss set in trap 2 of the campervan field bogs last year getting cramps and shakes
