  1. For anyone who is following my daughter's COVID test from yesterday, we've got the results back and she's negative, which means school tomorrow, friend's birthday party this afternoon, Grandma visits and I can pop to the shop!

  2. They locked down too slowly and too late to replicate what happened in the likes of New Zealand and re-opened too fast and too quickly to have something sustainable like in Sweden. The UK government has either by design or incompetence tried to find a halfway house between those two options and has wound up achieving neither. A monumental fuck up by a parcel of rogues who aren't fit to run a bath.

  6. Think this is good advice for a lot of people. It’s clear that this is affecting lots of you and I’m not sure what benefit it is for each of you to read doom and gloom constantly. All take care of yourselves.

  7. I really think you should try to take a break from the covid coverage for a bit, it’s not good for any of our mental health to be constantly reading up about it and going by your recent posts it seems that it’s having quite a negative impact on yours. Look after yourself and just because you’re not up to date on all the latest doesn’t mean you don’t care about the situation, just that you’re trying to care for yourself too, which is important.

  8. Latest discovery in terms of therapeutics HERE Published online in Cell in the last couple of days but basically is shows that in order for the virus to get into target cells, not only does it need to use ACE2, but it also needs to bind Heparan Sulfate (HS) first (which is part of the carbohydrate layer on the surface of the types of cells the virus infects). The first step, binding to HS opens up the receptor binding domain of the spike, allowing it to interact with ACE2 and get into our cells. Nicely conducted study and possibly a massive finding. The reason for that is we have drugs th

  9. Same, he's pretty much top of the list of realistic headliners I'd love to see! Maybe my plea worked...

  10. Serious plot twist Indeed. You all know that he had no plans to come back in 2021. Also confirmed by Woo Hah. Werchter anticipated and with Gorillaz they have a decent other headliner that day. To be honest, with the latest info that I have, I don’t know where he will fit in... It seems that he will play the same dates as last year. And TOP - Gorillaz - Kendrick is too strong en very expensive. But I want to be surprised too.

  13. Thanks for all the kind.words and donations guys. Two major problems, one self-inflicted, one beyond my control. Did Snowdon too quickly, but I don't care because it was fun. Made my quads hate me though. Sorry quads. The other one was awful gastro trouble, just couldn't eat. Sucked the life outta me, but hopeful for an improvement tomorrow. Going to have to set a lower mileage total due to today's premature halt, but to be honest, I was never doing it for a record or owt and another day on the road will do no harm to the fundraising. Especially if I suffer as much as I did today. 117,000 step

  16. It's funny to read that Werchter cannot bring back Kendrick Lamar next year because Live Nation chose to place Gorillaz in Werchter instead of Pukkelpop, and they cannot settle Kendrick, Gorillaz and TOP at the same day because none of them wants to be third down on the bill. Now Werchter has no Kendrick and Pukkelpop has no Gorillaz. Brilliant.

  18. Basically, if ACE2 is the doorknob that the virus uses to open our cells and get inside, then Heparan Sulphate is the key that unlocks it...and it just so happens we have drugs that can hide the key!

  21. In the context of everything that's going on, maybe wishing that your must see headliner is going to be so sick is the wrong way to word it? (I love deliberately misunderstanding the way the kids talk. Makes me feel like a grown up)

  24. When big bands like Pearl Jam are announcing a tour for next year, that means that they have serious indications it will be allright. Planning a tour costs a lot of money. They don’t start that with serious guarantees.

  29. So, it hasn't been proven, but strangely enough, it was the first thing we thought of just before we shut down! We've been doing a study on low-dose aspirin and breast cancer outcomes (turns out if you have been taking it for a while and then get breast cancer, you do much better and the cancer doesn't spread as much, but there's no point in taking it once diagnosed). So, very early on we wondered if low-dose aspirin would give some protection. The counter argument was that the anti-inflammatory effect of it would dampen down the immune system...the second part has been examined and seems that

  33. No, really, TOP are not going to change their date. That is not how it works. If they announce a date for a headliner, they are not going to change it. It happened one time before, Volbeat in 2013. That was because of the cancellation of a certain band, and Volbeat was ok with it. They are a far more easy going management.

  34. Kendrick has nothing to do with this. It needs a lot of lobbying to get him on the friday, if that day was't already booked with other headliners, i don't expect him on saturday. Where was he originally playing the friday of RW2020? Ireland? Wasn't he playing: - Wednesday Open'er - Thursday Roskilde - Friday Latitude - Saturday RW - Sunday BST

  35. Rather look forward and be depressed than constantly depressed. This news says to me whenever the next Glasto is Kenny will be there. Only headliner I want he will be so sick and with everything that has gone on his set will be one for the ages.

  41. Should add also that I don't see just locking up the shielded as a particularly great measure on its own. Not only is it grim for those people but it's not that easy for them all to avoid contact with people mixing outside. My friend who shielded and would likely have to again has three kids, all back at school now, so even if she was staying fully at home if the virus is spreading like wildfire in the community she is still in a really dangerous position. That's before you even get to the mental health aspects, especially for those shielding alone. I've read on here a few times lately "let's

  44. That's my thoughts on it - I'm not blaming the public exclusively but there is a lot of hysteria and I can imagine a lot of very mild symptoms that are of normal colds leading to people taking tests (or being told to by bosses etc). If they're limited, then somebody with medical training needs to decide who gets them to keep society running
