  3. ok, wasn't going to weigh in...but, my wife too is a teacher and I can guarantee that another 4 months of being stuck at home rather than in school is at bottom of the list of things she'd like to happen. Far from woe is me, she went back in as soon as she was let and despite the risk to her personal health and those around her, didn't hesitate for a second. She's adapted to a difficult working environment and is just getting on with the job of teaching her kids (most stressed about non-COVID related stuff like fighting for adequate resource hours for the kids that need them and the myriad oth

  4. They have to err on the side of caution. They don’t want to risk compromising the whole school. A sneeze isn’t a symptom but put yourself in their place. Do you want to be the headteacher that allows a covid outbreak within their school?

  5. In Belgium, Live Nation and RW are sort of a godfather. Yes, they don’t need the money. But they help the festivals, venues who are needing it. It aren’t easy times for Pukkelpop, Cactus... and all the freelancers, partners... They act really independent from the American bosses. Yes, normally are RW and Live Nation Belgium a money machine. But without their help some festivals have to stop and partners/freelancers going broke. But I understand your opinion, and can not say that you are wrong.

  7. Hi rarely post just came by whilst procrastinating and thought I'd chip in on the old schools/testing discussion. My boy will generally have a temp around 4 times over winter months, so when it inevitably happens this year he'll be off for up to 14 days pending a negative test result. Now of course from our POV it'd be great to be able to have a test back within 24 hours so he can get back to school sooner, but ultimately that's not the most important function of the testing. It's not for his benefit (he'll be fine), or even our benefit (we'll probably be fine 😬), but for the benefit of h

  8. I'm off hiking in the Lake District next week. I used lockdown to get fitter. Took up the #Walk1000Miles2020 challenge which I should complete in early October (924 miles to date). Also did the Hadrian's Wall National Trail coast to coast, 84 miles, in July which was a great experience. Hopefully stands me in good stead for the rigours of Glastonbury!

  10. The majority of the line (around 90%) is being revealed next week. Got an announcement everyday Monday - Main stage headliner Tuesday - Thursday line up Wednesday - Friday line up Thursday - Saturday line up Friday - Forrest stage Can imagine that most of the lineup for this year will run over to next but still hoping for one or two surprises.

  11. Let’s look at it a different way then ... as a parent you would have 3 kids maybe to look after ... as a teacher you might have a class of 30 ... who’s job is it to make sure the kids are totally fit and healthy to be attending schools ? If you think a teacher has the time to be assessing and giving medicals to all kids in their care ... would you want the ultimate responsibility for keeping a child in a school based on a time factored decision that could have fatal consequences further down the line ?

  12. If you don't like the 2021 line up you can ask for credit and go to the 2022 festival. A festival is always risky, since you don't buy tickets for specific artists, but for the festival. There is a disclaimer indicating he line up can change, not just for this year, but every year. Planes can be delayed, artist could have visa problems, break a leg or worse and you might end up with 2xRoyal Blood. The voucher rule in Belgium is not just for RW, but other events too. They are following national government policy and as shitty as that may be don't know if you want to tie the knot just to a

  14. Given how far people are having to travel for tests, I can't help but think Cummings was ahead of his time with the whole "think you might have COVID - go for a long drive" approach.

  15. Excess deaths is a really useful bit of data because it's a clear indicator of the net effect of COVID on deaths. It's really clear in what it tells us, I.e. how many extra people have died in the year with the virus compared to previous years. It doesn't tell us if it's a direct death from contracting the virus or some other knock on effect (fewer services for other diseases, mental health etc.), so in that sense it's not terribly precise in what it tells us. However it is very accurate compared to the other numbers flying around. There's not a lot of measurement ambiguity with excess deaths.

  24. Can’t agree with that, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Macca a few times, most recently a couple of years ago, and not only is his voice still fine but you are also getting two and a bit hours of non-stop classics. The man is responsible for some of the greatest music ever made, and he brings all of it.

  26. FWIW, my daughter had a snotty nose yesterday and a non-persitant, but new cough and on the advice of school, we kept her off school. Last night she developed a mildish temperature (38.2) and ended up having a COVID test this afternoon There's no way we would have sent her in without consulting with the school. Yes, she is our responsibility, but the school's responsibility is the community. If it turns out she does have COVID, then it's a good job she was kept off as a precautionary measure, since she could have taken the whole class out yesterday. Given all we know about asymptomat

  28. But they sell out the O2 here. International comparisons are irrelevant. This thread on this forum is the only place I see people thinking that Biffy aren’t still massive. They are massive. They aren’t significantly smaller now than they have been at any point in the last decade. They still play the same arenas, they still headline major festivals and they still get #1 albums.

  29. Resident teacher input: I can only speak for my school but we are certainly not sending children home willy-nilly. We have, over the last couple of days, sent 6/7 students home with ailments ranging from throwing up to migraines, all normal stuff which happens day in day out. We haven’t sent anyone home because of the sniffles and we haven’t sent anyone home displaying any of the major COVID symptoms. There has, however, been a hell of a lot of kids off with a cold. A few here and there is to be expected at this time of year but the numbers have been far greater the tail end of last week

  31. There is a backlog I would imagine, but the increase isn't just down to that as some of it will be cases rising. Patients in hospital (up to 972) and patients in mechanical ventilator beds (up to 106) are both up as well.

  32. Absolutely with you on this. I booked mainly for 3 of my favourite bands in 1 place and it's extremely likely SOAD aren't going to be there. No idea why we've had to wait 5 months just to be able to request a refund and needing to justify it too! It's criminal how they (Belgium Government) changed the goal posts after people have bought their tickets. To me the 2020 RW edition was CANCELLED, 2021 & 2022 was always going to go ahead if possible so 2020 is not a postponement! Therefore tickets should be refunded if requested and not needing more of a reason other than 'I DON'T WANT TO F

  35. Somewhere in the back of my mind I think I remember a discussion on twitter in march about refunds where living outside of Belgium might have been stated as a valid reason for not being able to attend next year. But a. I'm not a 100% sure b. can't find it. Might be worth doing a little research though. Jus't don't get your hopes up....this old brain is pretty messy and it might have been another festival or just for non Europeans.

  36. The issue is though if one kid tests positive then it will take out the entire bubble anyway .. so it’s the job of the headteacher to protect as many students as possible and that might make them send a few home with the sniffles but also might avoid some positive Covid cases coming though , don’t forget the time constraints of teachers in amongst the social distancing measures , hand sanitizing and washing ... they do actually have a job to perform ... not much point sending kids to school if the teachers need to spend the whole day doing medical assessments too ... fair play to all the teac

  38. 2460 cases and 32 deaths is the benchmark figure for today. I’m hoping that we might start to see a bit of downwards pressure on R in the coming days although the full impact of the “rule of 6” is still 10-14 days from showing up in the figures. If R is still above 1 by the last weekend in September you’re probably looking at more stringent regulations. I think they’d probably go with: - Hospitality to close at 10pm - Rule of 6 still applies to outdoor gatherings, but you are no longer allowed to meet indoors out with your household - Shielding reintroduction

  40. Have you seen the email regarding tickets. Its outrageous the proof needed to get a refund. I bought a ticket for a festival that is not happening, they have replaced it with a different festival and yet I'm not allowed to claim a refund unless I am getting married or dead. I can't stand RHCP or Gorlliaz. So I don't want to go. Full stop. I love RW but this has left such bad taste in my mouth. I really don't think I would go again in the future because of this.

  41. Try here - https://www.juno.co.uk/ I used them for the Love Records day a few months back. Used them again a couple of times since for stuff I've not been able to get in Sweden. Every time they dispatch within around 24 hours and it takes around 5-7 days max to arrive. Highly recommended.
