  1. Thanks for all your help and support guys. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t stressed out and nervous since things have reopened. I think I just need to try and chill a bit more and zone out rather than constant updates. Nice to know that there’s all of us on here going through this horrible thing and that I can always come here for support when I’m feeling worried 🙂

  3. Can't believe people are falling for this crap. He'll say anything to deflect and conflate, deny it later, and try to absolve himself of any responsibility. Easy to promise stuff now then fudge it further down the line as long as people start spending money again. Distraction from Russian reports and Patel bullying claims.

  4. It'll be a huge change, but it's important that it's not seen as direct consequences of COVID, but more a course correction for how we work. Your points are valid but it's also worth considering that: 1) Our public transport infrastructure for commuters is basically running beyond capacity in many places so that was already going to be a problem. This might actually relieve pressure on those busy commuting hours. 2) City centre cafes, gyms etc. built for office workers will suffer. But equally there will be more demand for those businesses in the suburbs. People will still want to g

  5. Was going to post pretty much that myself although it dosn't apply to me as I'm self employed and always kind of work from home. Chief Med Officer says to work from home. Boris says go back to your workplace please and it's up to your boss to say it's safe...so boss liable if you all get plagued up..... not Govt's responsibility any more it's up to your boss and it will be all his fault. And make sure that you all queue up in the local Pret and Starbucks at lunchtime. As Ozzy said, Boris and crew are fucking shitting themselves that a huge percentage of the population now know

  6. I'm gonna stick my neck out and say Glasto 2021 will go ahead (vaccine or no vaccine). Running a one-off event with advance testing is entirely possible. It may require no re-entry, but it can be run safely and pretty close to normal once in if everyone is tested before they enter (a week before and again the day before to be doubly sure)...some monitoring during the festival would reduce risk even further, for example, temperature screening and an onsite testing facility for those identified with a fever...could be run in the medical centre, though the ID Now test needs a bit more work...I wo

  8. Every death from this virus in this country is a step further away from success. 0 deaths would have been the only thing the government could have reported a “success” without sounding like completely selfish plonkers.

  10. Great point. Hopefully it becomes more normal when we're past Covid like you see in places like Japan. Feel very confident now that Glastonbury goes ahead next year. Not necessarily that it should but based on the way the government is approaching this, I'm sure Glastonbury will have the green light in 2021. We may end up with acts (particularly overseas) pulling out based on their personal circumstances/views and I think we'll all be on the Farm next June.

  18. Lots will probably be aware of this already, but just in case. UK Music is running the #letthemusicplay campaign today ahead of next week's summer economic update from the Chancellor, highlighting the threat to the UK's live music sector and the need for further government support to keep the industry afloat. I think by now everyone knows that live music will be one of the last things to really come back to life as restrictions ease, and it needs support if we want there to be anything other than the big venues to go back to. Lots on the news this morning about the open letter to th

I mean, let's put everything together that seems to return in 2021, is available during RW period and was mentioned on the last couple pages with some guesswork by myself: Wed: Metallica - Volbeat - Sum 41 // no clue for barn line up yet Thur: Pearl Jam - Royal Blood - Pixies - Lumineers // Disclosure - Beck - Wilco Fri: The Strokes - The Killers - Liam Gallagher - Lewis Capaldi // Alt-J - Archive - Cigarettes after Sex Sat: Gorillaz - Twenty One Pilots - Faith No More - tba // Jamie xx - Th

  23. This is from The Guardian: In Scotland, there is a 28-day cut-off, after a patient who has tested positive is not automatically considered to have died from the virus. Northern Ireland also uses the 28-day cut-off model. Experts had already cautioned against relying too heavily on the daily death statistics – preferring instead to focus on the Office for National Statistics’ measure of excess deaths, which has passed 65,000. So yeah it could be that issue still causing death figures to fluctuate.

  27. I think LA has, more or less, had two "waves"...wave 1, from China/Asia, some of the earliest cases in the US (outside of Seattle) were in California. They fairly successfully dealt with that, but opened up just about the time the massive wave 2 was spreading across the US (which came from Europe via NYC). I haven't seen any data, but I bet if you sequenced LA samples from February they will look like the Wuhan virus and if you sequence samples now they will look like Italian/Spanish variants. It's just a guess mind you....Florida just didn't handle it very well (and other states mis-timed the

  29. I’m guessing the optimism is relying on the results so far from the oxford vaccine, I think he’s hoping they can get the first doses out in October/November to all the vulnerable people so we can scrap social distancing. If the vaccine doesn’t go to plan and isn’t launched, then his whole plan falls down. With the added pressure of the flu in winter, there’s no chance social distancing is going to be able to be scrapped with winter illness and covid. But I have to say, if we all keep wearing masks into the winter we could not only suppress covid but we could also reduce flu transmiss

  31. News to me that you weren't allowed to use public transport until now! Thought that was always just advice.

  32. I've personally seen no evidence that the virus is seasonal, I mean yesterday was the highest ever daily increase in virus cases worldwide, and they are soaring in the USA. Even Europe had a pretty high day for cases compared to usual. Regardless, I thought it had been proven antibodies only last a few months and after that they start to fade? So if they have a 45% immunity right now, it's going to start falling in a couple of months time. From what ive heard herd immunity is practically impossible and unviable, hence why the UK aren't "going for herd immunity" anymore.

  34. No HAIM (yet) with the first names for Latitude. Lewis Capaldi and Bastille are headliners there for the 2021 edition, where they had HAIM/Liam/Chems for 2020 headliners. Doesn't bode well for HAIM at the 2021 festivals.

If you’re checking out Protomartyr’s album, this is a great (but sobering) article to read on the singer’s mental health, the financial situation of the band in the context of COVID and the American healthcare system: https://lastdonutofthenight.substack.com/p/protomartyrs-joe-casey-on-drinking

  36. OK, I'll bite... RHCP have veered heavily between the sublime and the ridiculous over the years. I used to love Blood Sugar Sex Magik and that early funk/rap/I've got a big boner sound, but listening back to it now it really doesn't do much for me. The actual instrumental work is still good, but Kiedis' schtick really hasn't aged at all well. There are still some good tracks in those first few albums, but stuff like Give It Away sounds really tired now. For me they hit their stride when they moved away from that sound and went more melodic in Californication. Again that album still

  43. Yeah it really is the commute that I dislike rather than the office itself. If I could teleport in I'd be fine and quite glad to see people and the change of scenery. I won't stop going into central London just because I work from home though. There's still plenty of reasons to leave our bubble, not least that none of our friends live in our borough so we always travel to see them anyway. Plus gigs, shows etc, if they survive.

  44. Sasha's latest podcast has a combination of 2 sets. One that would "have suited The Rabbit Hole" and the second hour is a later night Shangri La set... so assuming he was down to play these places...(rabbit prob a secret set like last time) It's hard listening as he drops some gorgeous stuff (Albion Air). It would have be gorgeous hearing that this year in the field... https://soundcloud.com/last-night-on-earth/sasha-presents-last-night-on-earth-show-061
