  1. Every day we get on with our lives, we get excited by stuff, disappointed by stuff, and yet every day somewhere there are kids with cancer. How very dare we think about anything less important than the most important thing going on in the world? How dare you ever enjoy a meal while there's a war in Syria? How dare you give a bad review to an album when there's somebody somewhere listening to Coldplay? Context and perspective are your friends.

  2. Why are we not allowed to be sad about the festival being cancelled? I am sick of being told to hide my emotions in the same world that then bangs on about talking about your emotions! Glastonbury to some people is more than ‘just a festival’ I work my arse off all year to disappear for a week to the happiest place on Earth, I’m single, live alone and have no kids unlike all my pals, I will not be made to feel shit for missing out on something that is a big part of my life and something I look forward to every summer!

  3. Mixed emotions... Gutted that the festival is officially off, gutted for those without tickets who will almost certainly have to wait another year but secretly delighted that the tickets are carrying over.

  4. We're all pretty shocked by the unprecedented (in our lifetimes) events happening across the world. Some of us are focusing on a music festival, in the way that you can burst into tears when spilling milk when you're grieving. It's an incredibly stressful and unusual time for us all, please, let's all try more empathy and more kindness. People are upset about Glastonbury, but more than that, I think a lot of us are generally upset and bewildered and are using the cancellation of the festival to try to focus and make sense of our feelings. I'm trying to cut everyone, everywhere a bit

  10. The only logical solution to this is to have a double glastonbury next year with the gates opening 5 days earlier. I will not be taking any further questions on this matter.

  11. That's ME!!! I'm listening to Coldplay Chris Martin actually even stemmed the flow of my tears this morning and put a smile back on my face. I sang really loud to Head Full of Dreams on my journey to work, and by the time I got here I had a massive smile on my face!! That's no mean feat considering I work in Emergency Services and times are hard out here! What an amazing thing though, to light that little spark in a human and know it spread to a sunbeam shining from their face, all from the music you make. Thank you Chris Martin, thank you Coldplay

  13. Just a bit insensitive in this context. There’s more than one person here say they’re on antidepressants - who knows what losing Glasto hope might trigger. Hopefully nothing but it’s poor form to joke about the worst right now, I reckon.

  14. Alright everyone let's start looking forward! When do we think we'll get the first confirmation? Reckon they will drop something in the coming months once they've confirmed which acts will return? Wouldn't surprise me if we knew a couple of the headliners by June. Thoughts?

  15. Lineup last Thursday, Interview went well on Frida, was asked about notice period and salary exceptions on Monday. Life was ok. Tuesday new job role on hold, current role made redundant (offered different role lucky for me) and my boss made redundant, big G cancelled today, almost sent me under. Can't believe it's only Wednesday. Take care people.

  16. I have 3 fest plan : HellFest, Sziget and Rock Am Ring in Germany. I believe the germans' one will be cancel, because its hapenning at the beginning of June ..and I'm very worried about the HellFest in France, middle June .. But the Sziget is in 5 months, 5 MONTHS ! I believe by May the virus will be almost gone, so honestly , Im confident for the Sziget, and thats the only fest' i'm confident about

  17. No, because the priority system has a lot more to it than you're accounting for. I (and others) qualify by each of the (off the top of my head) 4 criteria, but there's some who'll qualify under the "10 in 10" rule but not "2 in the previous year" It's a well established system and what's fair is to be consistent not just with the system but with precedent and with what happens regarding other festivals, which they have been. Last year, the people who were down to work Boardmasters were literally at the festival site and ready to go when it got cancelled. People who were down to work

  21. Funny enough I'm building a playlist collection of classic albums at the moment, so this thread will help massively! For my part, only discovered this as an album (beyond the singles) relatively recently. Get some Marvin in your ears. Quite dark themes of social commentary, but wrapped up in a sound that will soothe the soul. Gorgeous.

  25. I haven’t caught up with all the comments but wanted to give my quick thoughts. I am devastated that the festival has been cancelled but to see they are rolling over this years tickets to next is such a lovely, comforting thing for them to do. I love that the festival so much and this typifies why I do. I nearly cried when I saw I can go next year, in fact I probably will when I have time alone to process my thoughts. I’m really sorry to anyone that doesn’t have tickets here I will try my absolute best to help anyone in future sales for 2021. I understand any anger towa

  26. We can all agree that Primavera's communications are sometimes not what we would wish, but this is a pretty extraordinary situation. Cut them some slack, they're trying their best to give us a festival in difficult circumstances.

  27. I can see there's some difference - but you'd assume they've taken the decision with more information. If artists are pulling out/postponing/cancelling then all the festivals will fall like dominoes. You're not likely to get Taylor Swift turning up for half a festival run.

  29. After the disappointment of yesterday this is some welcome good news. Its gonna be a long wait, but at least I know I will get to walk through those gates next year. For those without tickets, I really hope and feel a lot of tickets will be returned which will dramatically improve your chances. With the help of everyone on here you should hopefully get lucky. Fingers crossed we will all be there next year.

  30. I won't lie on a personal, selfish basis I'm feeling gutted as it means unless I get lucky in the resale next year my next Glasto could be 2022... but at the end of the day i's the fairest thing to do and I'm really happy for those who have their tickets rolled over!

  32. Banger-off. Acts all pitch their proposed setlists and Emily decides who the three winners are based on how many bangers said setlist contains. Bonus points if the opening song has a guaranteed ‘taps aff’ effect.

  33. Glastonbury is not important, festivals are not important. What is important is the rest of us doing everything we can to make life as easy as possible for the likes of yourself. I understand people are disappointed. You are cleatly devastated yourself. But when you are going to be putting your life on the line and sacraficing god knows what else to help other people then it needs the rest of us to do whats required, to get through this as quickly as possible. If it means us all going into lockdown andd us all missing a festival then so be. Now I appreciate I may be a little harsh on

  35. If you’re a fan of the heavier ends of music, a couple of chaps on a podcast I listen to have created a spreadsheet detailing which bands have cancelled tours, where they were supposed to be touring and the links you can open to directly go to their site / store to help support them: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lVjdd-66y2D_DrsRuXUwNUz8KB_mx7R-cmMh1WwBQrI/htmlview If a gig you were going to has been cancelled and you get refunded, I think it is a great idea to use some of that money to buy something from that artist’s store to help support them in some way still This is

  36. I'm looking at it as nothing other than an impromptu fallow year. Put yourselves in a positive frame of mind around the situation. There is nothing we can do / could've done ti predict this. The most important thing now is to get through this tough period and then support the industries most affected. We can support those smaller artists who were due to play the festival at their own gigs whenever they may start to gig again. Depending on our situations we now have £220+ to use in a positive way on those directly impacted by the cancellation. Stay strong x

  38. Quick note to think carefully when coming to post things like "yes it's sad but it's just a festival" and "we will all have bigger things to worry about soon". Yes, for myself and for most people here, while it's gutting, there are people going to be going through a lot worse. But for some with anxiety and other issues, something like this can be a big blow to mental health, which is obviously closely linked to personal wellbeing, so let's not forget you never know the personal circumstances of the person behind the screen, and there is no need to belittle anyone's emotions. We're all on this

  42. Plus, I’d go further and say that it would actually be incredibly unfair to give 2020 ticket holders a guaranteed place. There are plenty of reasons that someone might not have wanted, or been unable, to go in 2020, and they don’t deserve a 2021 ticket any more or less than anyone in this thread.
