  2. Things will be better. No doubt. But they will not announce something when corona is headlining the news each day. Same for Pukkelpop.

  3. I don't dispute Ken's festival knowledge/info, but I just think it is rather irresponsible to be telling us everything will be fine when we could be potentially out a lot of money on flights/tickets if this thing gets cancelled. Since literal countries are being shut down and bands are cancelling tours, I'd be questionable about committing the best part of €500 on the word of one person who is looked upon as a 'higher up' figure in this community.

  5. Been running some initial analysis on the UK v Italy as I'm sick of hearing people say we are 'two weeks behind Italy'. It has confirmed what I thought, our increases aren't as steep as Italy's. Pre-second wave cases (first wave was when cases were pretty much all from China), Italy had 3 cases and the UK had around 9. So the UK actually had a head start. In the second-wave of infections, Italy went from 20 cases to 453 cases in just 5 days. The UK has only today reached that level, 12 days after being on 20 cases.

  8. Hi all, I'm starting a new thread probably off topic. I'm Italian and now as you know the situation here is not good. I'm fine, I have no panic and no fear but as probably you know the whole Italy is now in quarantine and the situation is getting more serious every day. If you want to stop this epidemic (pandemic?) before it becomes serious also in your countries STAY AT HOME before your government will force you. I'm not an alarmist or whatever but I see how the situation is evolving if the citizens don't follow the government guidelines. So please stay at home if your countries is in a dangerous situation. Only this way we could go on living and have a festival season.

  9. Whilst this may or may not be good advice (I have no idea, I'm not an expert), there is a real problem at the moment with believeing advice from people on social media instead of looking at advice from the NHS, WHO, PHE and the like. Before you believe anything you read on social media, check the sources. In this case the source is a nightclub bouncer from Wolverhampton. He's probably a lovely guy but he's clearly not a healthcare professional so probably best not shared until it comes from a trustworthy source. Just saying.

  14. Hopefully we'll be in the fields this year, having just watched Noel and waiting for Macca to come on. Reminiscing on how great The Cure were last year. Thinking about how happy we are to have tickets for the 50th anniversary of Glastonbury. Then someone jokes "remember when we thought Glastonbury might be cancelled this year?" We all laugh and smile, just as the lights go dark and Macca graces the stage.

  20. Wherever you are coming from, be it New Zealand or just across the channel it will be great to see the flags of all your nations on the farm! Edit, as long as your flags don’t block the view of the stages!😁

  22. Fair - apologies if it came across as one on my behalf. Have followed this thread from the start as have tickets for this summer, but as the virus has grown from a subject of 'will it inconvenience me' to 'is this a danger to my family', have found some of the tone on here extremely off.

  23. I've got tickets for this year but I would not want to introduce or re-introduce this crap in to the area and it's inhabitants, in addition, I want the full festival not a watered down version because areas can't be manned or built. I don't want medics at the festival dealing with sprained ankles and people having bad ones because I have the feeling there may be more serious stuff afoot. I think there's a bigger picture here and choosing to ignore it does not make it vanish.

  24. I am in a long distance relationship. I live in South London and my girlfriend of 18 months is an hour away in Brighton. It’s been this way for a few months and will continue for another couple of years (due to circumstances) when we’ll finally be able to move in together. We have no car so rely on trains to spend time together. Usually spend Friday night until Monday morning together, alternating weekends between London and Brighton. If the government cancel all the trains and make us stay at home for months and not see it other it’ll absolutely cripple my mental health. I have no doubt others will suffer serious mental issues if we are all placed under house arrest. Suicides will happen. Coronavirus is no doubt an unfriendly disease but the alternative is far, far worse.

  25. Are you planning to book tickets right now? 🙄 I would not, nobody does, prove can you find in the ticket sales this moment. There are a lot of meetings right now, it will be another climate by then. I’m not the pessimistic type of guy. Give it time. Many months to go.

  30. She didn’t say over how long (did she?) which is the important bit. If 70% of us get it in the next 2-3 months, fucko. If 70% of us get it over the next 5 years, fine. It will hurt but we’ll get through. This is why we have to flatten the curve.

  35. Today's update: No unexpected 'good' news today sadly. China's numbers continue to drop and this time they are down 1,210 (16,322). South Korea didn't announce any new recoveries so couldn't come down in terms of numbers but their increase was pretty small which continues to be encouraging. Up by 242 (7,454). Further increases in the rest of East Asia on the whole, although nothing too frightening yet. Japan up by 48 (468), Thailand up 5 (24), Vietnam up 3 (18), Taiwan up 1 (30), Malaysia up 12 (105) and Indonesia up 5 (24). No change for Hong Kong (52), Cambodia (1), Macau (0), Singapore (82) and the Philippines actually came down by 1 (30). Increases in the Middle East seem a little larger than the previous day. Iran is up just under 500 (5,020) but Bahrain also saw a significant jump of 72 (159). Gradual growth elsewhere in the region. In Europe, we are still very much in the accelerated growth phase. Italy is up 809 after not announcing any recoveries (8,794). Countries in Northern Europe seem to be particularly struggling with large jumps once again for Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.Germany, France and Spain also with huge jumps and all within 1,500-1,750 cases. The UK in comparison had more steady growth of 61 in total to 359. No recoveries announced either. Ireland increased by 10 (34). Africa in comparison didn't see much change yesterday with nothing more than a handful of extra cases throughout the continent. The virus has spread a bit more in South America and we are still waiting for our first recoveries in this region. No huge jumps here though. In Central America, we have our first death in Panama and a few more cases elsewhere but no large jumps. USA though continues to grow at a worrying rate, up 280 (1,001). Canada's jump was much more gradual (16 to 84) and Australia grew by 17 (84). No major changes elsewhere around the rest of the world.

  37. ‘The U.K. has been working hard’ Err...nope. The UK has taken none of the measures China, Singapore or South Korea has. They have had the best results globally in terms of stemming the outbreak. China has big numbers because they failed to get on top of it (same mistake U.K. seems to be making) but now they seem to be successful. A friend landed in Singapore a couple of weeks ago. Had temperature taken and they were interviewed, went to their hotel where they also took their temperature. Their colleague flew to the UK and walked straight in (came from same country with high infection rate) nothing at airport. Just walked straight in. Two days ago people were bailing Northern Italy due to the impending lockdown. They were all able to walk through Heathrow with no screening whatsoever. By all means believe Glasto is going ahead (my guess is <20% likelihood) but thinking the UK has been anything more than utterly incompetent is delusional. Just to prove it our Health Minister felt ill last Friday and went ahead and held her constituency surgery on Saturday. since she tested positive. Their incompetence is limitless. In China they are hoping to go back to their offices ‘in an month or two’ according to a friend in Beijing. They have been in lockdown since early Feb. Once they are back large events and venues such as Forbidden City which attract thousands of tourists are likely to still be closed for quite a while. The UK might not take that approach, but if not the NHS will be swamped. Italian doctors are making decisions right now on who lives and who dies as there are more people requiring ICU than there are ventilators in the country. If a case is more severe and oxygen is not enough the patient requires an ECMO machine. There are five hospitals in England with an ECMO. Five. If UK follows Italy, which now seems inevitable, there will be hundreds perhaps thousands of patients needing ECMO. A handful will survive as the NHS is not equipped to deal with the volume. This is not a drill. This is not the flu. Get a grip (because our government hasn’t). The best hope is that the virus is quite heat sensitive and may decline as summer arrives. Some transmission in countries with high temps but not huge outbreaks (much of Iranian outbreak in colder north) so this is what I am pinning hopes on right now.
