  5. A lovely night. Here are my notes of comments that stood out: Ed O’Brien: you have to realise that you are a soundtrack for perhaps a few minutes, at most a couple of hours of someone’s weekend; it’s a continuation of thousand of yrs of celebrations of mid-summer; spent most of last time in Shangri-la; asked an 83-year old friend in Shangr-la how it felt and he said it was a meeting of tribes, East, West, North & South, which seemed perfect; we loved always going to the crashed fuselage, which served tequila Billy Bragg: at a festival you’ve gotta be like a busker, play what the crowd want. I learnt you don’t want to move against a Coldplay crowd, I ended up pinned against a board by a pie shop! There should be no Queen appearance, regardless of badgers, until they apologise for their Sun City appearance Favourite thing of last year was the Crumbleshack opposite the Left Field, he had crumble for breakfast, lunch & dinner! Caitlyn Moran loves how people at G are “competitively lovely”, just waiting to help each other out, everyone becomes a different person for the weekend & after; the pirate ship she saw the 1st time she went, going by on a truck & staffed by Goth girls wearing short skirts dancing to No Diggity, looked like her idea of heaven! Emily Eavis sells Sunday slots to acts on the basis that “people are so emotional”!

  6. People suggesting a legitimate headliner opening the pyramid as being a “fantastic way to start the weekend” is absolutely brill. Keep it up guys!

  10. I only have info about POR. The RATM news is new for me. But maybe the 3 can stay in Europe and Zack can join them after the GraSpop weekend. I don’t think that, If they tour in Europe, it will be before the Hellfest weekend. Otherwise Download and Rar would have them. As I said before, I know a little, not the big parts.

  17. Who cares if a headliner is any good live, its all about arguing how good they look on the line-up poster. They play for 2 hours of the year, we argue about it for the other 8,758 hours.

  22. None of that make sense. It's written there on the article for you to read with your own eyes I don't need to explain it to you. Regardless of what sex you are born, which you have no control over, you grow up that sex with those experiences. A girl growing up has a completely different childhood and life to a man. Maybe you dont think that in the UK (you're wrong) but thinking of it globally might help: What men are honour killed? What men are aborted simply for being male? What men are forced into arranged marriages with much older women who will rape and impregnate them as children? What men die in menstruation huts? Etc etc etc. The way you are born, what sex, colour, nationality defines your whole life. You are a man who is so privileged you cannot understand how a woman only space would be helpful for women. It is to make women feel safe, something you seem to be not only opposed to but intent on trying to make them feel the opposite by trying to gain entry.

  29. No way are they having both MCR and RATM. We’re still talking about R&L here, the festival filled with 16 year old 1975 fans who don’t know anything pre 2005.

  36. If you are getting Salomon, you can also look at trail shoes - but make sure they've got a rock plate (I think that Salomon call it the Profeel Film or some such bollocks) - this will protect the soles of your feet from getting bruised by stones / empty cans etc if you step on them. Also, make sure you get ones that are big enough! So many people suffering because their toes get battered because their shoes are too small, their feet are swollen from all the heat and booze and walking - you can always wear a thicker sock to compensate for something slightly large, but slightly small will make you miserable. If it's not wet, I spend the whole festival in my "old" pair of Salomon trail runners (i.e. the ones that were most recently replaced for actual running), and they are comfortable the whole time.

  37. Last year everything was gone within an hour. The non-scout tent options went first so I settled on a scout tent. Obviously it’s the first year where coach tickets get an hour head-start so I predict all of their allocated tents will go before the hour is up. Would be funny if all tents went to coach tickets (not like ha ha funny). They’ll need to make sure the shuttle round from Gate A is more frequent now too. This year we have opted for off-site glamping as didn’t like the look of general sale WV chances after ticket day.

  43. Oh my days, that was something else! I don't understand why they don't just open the sides up of the WG? In the end, I just had to let the sweat pour and focus on the show rather than being concerned with cooling down or not looking like a hot mess. Great set.

  46. HMV I Fear you have not followed the link I posted before downvoting my post. I Kindly suggest you read it. It is only a blog by one of the founders of XR. No media bias or fake news. You may find it shocking or at least interesting. I also have experience of children with Aspergers and autism and can tell you that Greta appears to be highly distressed and anxious at many times when she is paraded in front of the worlds media. I don’t think it is right. Her parents are anti capitalists and she has been chosen specifically due to the fact she has Aspergers and therefore is harder for people to criticise. I think the was she is being exploited is wicked. I am not in any way denying man made climate change or the terrible impact that humans have on the environment it is apparent and credible. maybe you would reconsider whether my post is worthy of a downvote on this basis.
