  1. I was with the 3 friends waiting on Burt Bacharach to start a few years ago when one of my friends decided to take a picture of the rest of us. While they were taking the picture someone asked them if they would like them to take it so they could be in the picture. When they were taking the picture someone then asked them the same question, so the first person joined our group to have their picture taken. To cut a long story short this happened again and again until the final picture had around 20 people in it! Every time I look at it now it makes me smile and reminds me how amazing the Glast

  7. I've been thinking about this a lot recently. It just hit me. Glastonbury for me is an escape. An escape from the worries. An escape from the news. An escape from responsibility. An escape from feeling down. An escape from having to be. We can all just be. The worst moment ever at Glastonbury was waking up to that wave of "no fucking way" in 2016. That mud just seemed to fit that year.

  8. There is no way to make the top 7 bands representative. And how would you decide on what is representative anyway. It’s a slippery slope. If you went for representative of the festival there would be very few black artists for example, If you went for representative of the world where are all the Chinese bands. you can’t win

  14. A general clash-breaking rule I have is that if there are 2 acts you can't decide between, go for the one on the smaller stage. You'll generally find a more selective and appreciative audience, and it helps you spend time in different areas. As we all know, variety is the spice of life.

  15. OK, been a while since I've ventured on here.. so hello again all! I am currently watching Nile Rodgers 2017 set and I am well and truly in the Glastonbury spirit. It is a set that has everything that I theoretically do not enjoy in music, but, i bloody loved it all, from start to finish it was a magical experience that I am incredibly thankful that I was there for. Sooo.. whats everyone's "I shouldn't have loved it, by god, it was good, Glastonbury moment" Lets not be shy now!

  16. After years of unsuccessful ticket purchase attempts, I finally managed to get tickets for 2017 for myself and my girlfriend at the time. There are so many things that make Glastonbury stand out for me from the atmosphere to the people to the sheer size. However, the one thing stood out head and shoulders above the rest was the inclusiveness of the festival. This was best summed up on the Friday afternoon as we lay on the grass close to the circus when we were approached by two festival-goers: one of which had down syndrome and the other was in a wheelchair with a disability. 20. It's virtually impossible for guitar bands/acts to chart now. Just the way the chart is structured. I could go into a long and detailed reason why I believe this is the case but I'd bore everyone. For comparison, Catfish are probably as big as it gets for a recent band that has emerged. The first single from the new album, Longshot, got to No 25 but that is the only song they've had remotely close to the top 40 - no coincidence that one of the reasons is it has been released before it is available on an album. Compare them to Sam Fender - the highest chart positon for Catfish's first

  21. They have had a few gigs there. Egyptian trance act Aly & Fila played there a few years ago. Im in a minority on here... I dont mind RHCP. I cant say Im a huge fan, but if thry play the hits I'd be happy. (barring cant stop - that annoys me)

  25. I gotta say I don't like the whole other late night festival thing. It's not that I think it's bad, but the day and night are almost separate beasts with different crowds and it's changed things. I'm absolutely not saying one crowd is better than the other and I'm not going to say that change is Bad, I certainly appreciate for new people it's an incredible riot of non-stop entertainment unlike anything else and I get why it blows them away, it still does that to me too. But for me it has taken away a thing that was very special about Glastonbury. I never had a lack of things to do at n

  27. Send out 90% of the invitations early then leave the rest of your friends sweating for months until you have a resale. For those who aren’t successful Offer them a chance to volunteer to wash dishes, act as ushers, clean the bogs and serve the meal in return for an invite.

  30. Doing a playlist again this year, one song from most of the acts (the ones I can tolerate lol) From the new acts I've found I'm really enjoying Himalayas (a pretty energetic garage/indie band), Dream State (heavier paramore), Sophie & The Giants (reminds me of Foals for some reason?), Honey Dijon (Disco) and Ocean Alley (funky stuff that won the Triple J Hot 100 this year). Also go see Dimension (DnB), King Princess (Indie Pop w/ Mark Ronson on production), AJ Tracey (Fuckin love his new album), Charli XCX (if you're lucky you'll get a lot of Pop2 and N1A) and CHVRCHES (were

  31. It's good to read so many positive reports of sober Glastonbury. ive not had a drink since October and though I do plan to drink at the G (I'm a 'holiday drinker') now, I know I can't go anywhere near as hard. Stupid as it sounds, it has been worrying me whether it's not going to be as good as a result. It's good to read it won't. i have been planning to take the non alcohol Rekorderlig cans to drink for the most part, so I feel like I still have a can in hand and for the most part won't notice the difference besides not being found in a gutter somewhere!

  32. Today is day 1256 sober from alcohol and I’ve never done other drugs. This will be my 3rd sober Glastonbury. The past two sober ones were much better than the previous 7 pissed up ones. If anyone is thinking of giving up or cutting down and are worrying about how to cope, just give it a go. There are many many people like me there who are unable to moderate so cutting it completely is the ONLY option. I now positivity glow with pride at how I’ve turned my life around without alcohol. Bizarrely, I still serve alcohol to others and I’m no way against others using it. Trust me,

My three favourite non main stage experiences Feightened Rabbits second set at Williams Green in the evening on one of the days in 16- everyone including the band were smashed and Scott spent a good 5 minutes just swearing and finding it very funny Stornoway in the accosting tent with the least acoustic performance I’ve ever seen - no idea what year but it was raining, I’m guessing 15 a bar of unknown name somewhere near the West Holts I think in 14- on a massive come down, left my gf and her mates during what I think was Lana del Rey on the pyramid which I was fin

Shivers.....? took my daughters to their first Glastonbury in 09 and the youngest begged us to go to see Black Eyed Peas on West Holts..... well myself and the eldest had tickets for Blur in Hyde Park the following week, so.... Eldest sat on the benches with a right face on as youngest bounced into the middle of the crowd, with Will.i.am hollering “Hellooooo London...” didnt miss much did we.?

I will be going in a camper van this year for the first time due to us expecting a new addition to the family in 6 weeks...so didn’t fancy taking a young baby with everything they need and camping...as I started looking prices were way more than I thought they would be! I have ended up using these https://www.camptoo.co.uk/ where you rent the camper off an individual rather than using a rental company....it was a 3rd of the price I had found anywhere else!!
