Okay since I'm ill and have too much time on my hands, I've done the dirty work this year. I gave 10 to the top album, 9 to the second etc., then added up the scores. Up to 30th place there's some clear ordering but then there's a lot of 6 way draws so I'll just provide the top 30: 28. Tyler, the Creator - Flower Boy Ryan Adams - The Prisoner Julien Baker - Turn Out the Lights 27. Paramore - Hard Times 26. London Grammar - The Truth is a Beautiful Thing 24. The Cribs - 24/7 Rockstar Shit The Moonlandingz - Interplanetary Class Classics 23. Sundara Karma - Youth is Only Ever Fun in Retrospect 22. Bonobo - Migration 21. Loyle Carner - Yesterday's Gone 19. Sampha - Process Brand New - Science Fiction 18. The Horrors - V 17. Father John Misty - Pure Comedy 16. Idles - Brutalism 13. Los Campesinos! - Sick Scenes Royal Blood - How Did We Get So Dark? Run The Jewels - RTJ3 12. Everything Everything - A Fever Dream 10. St. Vincent - MASSEDUCATION Queens of the Stone Age - Villains 9. The War on Drugs - A Deeper Understanding 8. Wolf Alice - Visions of a Life 7. Slowdive - Slowdive 6. The xx - I See You 5. Arcade Fire - Everything Now 4. LCD Soundsystem - american dream 3. Kendrick Lamar - DAMN. 2. Lorde - Melodrama 1. The National - Sleep Well Beast So there you have it, efestivals' year in music! Roll on 2018

January 8th at 23:59. Though this Bar Tool guy said that they might sell out before that.

What's the matter with you all? American Dream is an absolute masterpiece, for me it's only got better with every listen. AotY always changes about a year afterwards, I can see that being my actual AotY for 2017 if asked this time next year.

To be fair, the better comparisons would be gorillaz vs high flying birds, or Beady Eye vs Fat Les. But yeah, they totally lost.

I'd be super happy to be proved wrong. I'm coming from a win win position.

Cancel everything. Daft Punk IS playing...at my house, my house.

Yeah but you're not going to tell friends at random about it, are you? You'll tell the friends for whom the information will generate an excited response i.e. the kinds of friends who go to these kinds of festivals. Plus there were ten of them. One of them was even the manager of a record store I think. With respect, you're just one and it only takes one of the ten to have friends that care enough to spill the beans or tell their friends who will instead. If ten people tell two friends and these two friends tell two friends, now you have 40 people who know and it only takes one to tweet or whatever.

Lack of news from FiB is starting to piss me off now

Blur have far more diversity in their music and the more indie credentials that Oasis lack. Oasis would attract lagered up lads on holiday, some of whom would get into fights. You can't possibly think Primavera would pay a fortune for the aggro option (not that they are reforming anyway)?

I'm a Jan birthday and used to get the same (Can't be arsed with it now - meal out with hubby and kids now if I'm lucky). Used to go clubbing with those that made it back in the day but town was so quiet and no atmosphere. January birthdays suck. Remember as a kid having birthday parties and most of my gifts were matchmakers, usually orange which I hate...obviously Xmas leftovers. God I sound ungrateful.

Hi Mr Zigster. Sorry you're having a bad time re your mother and work. I didn't have an ideal childhood either, it involved lots of criticism and violence. it took me till I was in my 50s to remember the nice things that were done. In amongst all the negativity, I now remember my nan (who raised me) spending hours sewing on individual feathers for a school dance I was in when I was 11. Despite her arthritis. She saw emotion as weakness, as something that could be used against her Her biggest criticism of me was that I had a mind of my own I told her how much I loved her just before she died, and I'm glad, she admitted she had withdrawn her affection as a form of control, for fear I'd 'take advantage'. I started healing when I recognised people are fucked up, and I could forgive them for being so damaged themselves. it took me a long, long time, and I'm still working my way through the damage. I grew up being told I wasn't wanted, (by my parents), and should be grateful my grandparents had taken me in, so I can get apologetic for existing, at times. I hope one day you can find peace with it, and wish you healing and peace of mind xx Christmas and New Year are overrated. And birthdays really. They're pretty much arbitrary marks in the sand - a human construct of an anniversary of something based on an attempt to break time down into arbitrary segments. I'd suggest finding some dates when your mates have both time and money, and celebrate with them then. The time you spend with them has meaning, and arbitrary dates on the calendar - not so much, unless you let it. Peace and love xx

The Stones, man, well they're the Stones aren't they, you'd have been mad yto have missed it. They were superb. But did they nail it good and proper like what Blur did? Nah, Blur captured every living dying last breath of that festival and owned it from start to finish. It was crazy, manic, ups and downs and we were all in bits by the end. One of the best I've seen on that stage.
