I bought these in 2007 from Ian Gill Sculpture in The Greenfields. One is a stork and the other is an acorn leaf bird bath. My mum died in 2006 and my dad gave me her secret money stash he found in her purse. These both represent my mum, the stork being the carrier of babies and she carried me. And one of her sayings was "From Little Acorns, Mighty Oak Trees Grow". They always make me think of her even after all this time! 💗4 points

Usually in the Electronica & Dance thread someone makes a spreadsheet that says what genre each artist is, provides a link to a good example of one of their dj sets and says whether they are any good etc 🙂4 points

There's no point in having a mind if you can't change it. We'd all do well to acknowledge when people do it for the better. ☺️ Ben4 points

Almost the opposite for me. Gave my white top hat (that I've had for ages) to the youngster sitting on her dad's shoulders towards the end of Elton last year. Didn't see that I'd need it again and she was enamored. The beaming smile (once her mom said is was OK to take it) will be my keepsake.3 points

I'm also not a fan of how long this is. Respectfully, I don't need to listen to 31 tracks. Edit it down, give me your best work. There's probably a really good 12-14 track album in here, but it feels very watered down for the theatre of a surprise double album.3 points

3rd sale in a row where I didn't need a ticket and I managed to get some for others. I was done and dusted by 18:02 tonight. Hoping my karma points are full for the next time I'm in need3 points

There's something perversely fair about the Glastonbury ticket drama in my opinion. Those who really want a ticket will generally hang around longer to try and get one. While those who are half-arsed just "trying" will drop out after half an hour or so. I don't know, I'm sure it will change one day, but I personally don't have any complaints.3 points

I'd bet a very large sum of money that's because the person decided it wasn't worth the sh*t they were (probably) getting, rather than eBay removing it.2 points

That was the word that sprang to mind originally for me too but I toned my response down upon reflection lol - but you are right, they defo are. Price gouging a charity item - wtf is wrong with some people in this world? I thought the same when I was in the Marylebone High Street Oxfam and saw someone haggling with the staff to get an item cheaper. I nearly interrupted them to tell them what I thought of their actions.2 points

Yeah, the chances are so small and for the effort involved that it's not even worth looking until at minimum the middle of next week. More likely some point after the cancellation deadline on May 3rd is when they'll drop a load at once.2 points

Glastonbury, like all good socialist organisations, rewards hard work, charges you a fortune to get in, and builds a big wall around itself to keep out undesirables.2 points

Said this before but thank you @MatthewTurnerfor sorting. I tried to get through yesterday but did not get passed the holding page. we go again Sunday where hopefully we’ll be successful. Like I said in the WhatsApp group, if anyone gets our groups tickets (group 3), which also includes @Talcroft they’ll be some drinks at the bar of your choice ready for you2 points

Back OT. I now have 15 acts at Avalon I’d like to see. That’s a record for a single stage. Of course I’ll miss most of them but…Bravo the booking team. And stop stealing my brain patterns.2 points

Arlo Parks confirms for Friday. There's been a few confirmations and other new dates recently so I've updated the Clashfinder to suit.2 points

I posted in the firm belief that the meme could be tolerated by all. I apologized in case that was not the position. That said, there was a fleeting moment where I did question posting the meme. I've had a smoke and my brain's flying around the place so I kind of shot from the hip.1 point

Last year, that venue is female only I think. However, this year it has been opened up to everyone.1 point

New location for the SE Tea Tent - between the Convoy Cabaret and the Woodland entrance and they will be opening on Weds afternoon with live music in the eve, and then a full programme from the Thursday through to the Sunday.1 point

Rishi Sunak is a vile human being. As someone that suffers from anxiety and OCD I can assure him the causes of this aren’t ’over-medicalisation’ at all.1 point

My favourite bit is just sitting watching people walk past and having random conversations. My favourite was at 2am talking to a guy carrying a large water cube....I said "You spoil that Goldfish". He immediately picked up the joke and said "Yeah, he loves it here, comes every year"....his girlfriend coming up behind him couldn't understand why we were talking about Goldfish.1 point

Justice will probably close the mordor, let's say 3am. Pulp and VW before them in any order, let's say 23 and 1am. So we need Beth Gibbons to start before 21:00-21:30. If its auditury its possible to start around 20:00. Ray-Ban or Amazon stages can be around 22:00 as well. And that's in the case they dont put Deftones between Pulp and VW, whice will make things more complicated. God, just give us the schedule and release us of the misery....1 point

It’s been a few years since I’ve stayed there but they were no more strict than East. If anything they were more relaxed. I don’t think you’d have any issues.1 point

This is a fair point. My times at the park have either been when it was relatively quiet so obviously the sound and the view were great or when it was far too busy so wasnt worth being there. Really looking forward to spending more time there this year1 point

Yeah 100%, doesnt stop a million idiots suggesting a ballot each year on twitter even tho it would lead to less chance for them. It is currently the best system possible imo1 point

Makes sense. Though if we dont have a date or even an announcement that there's an album on the way, I think it wont come out before the festival1 point

So, we must be due the announcement of the Wednesday headliner at the press conference next week. Agreed? No Doubt seems to be the 'obvious' candidate but Sziget appear to have done 'a swing and a miss' on so many acts this year that I'm actually struggling to believe they've landed ND. Leaks' knowledge that it was a band, and they would be announced 'soonish' after announcement 2 seems to tie in too but......well, I guess we'll find out soon enough.1 point

Yop, more Guradianny Lattitudey than Chavvy IOWy really Trying to channel the Chad888 vibes to generate some engagement 😆1 point

interesting on todays pod to hear James saying something along the lines of trees headliners needing to be able to sell out ally pally granted Gaslight and Broco probably could but where on earth do The Chats fit that description. as a side note to that I was surprised to see The Chats confirm an extensive winter UK tour yesterday. thought they'd wait til after Trees1 point

Blimey Neil. Someone asked for a quote and I posted it. I don't care about the downvote (but thanks to those who have upvoted me) but this is a bit of an odd response to a fairly innocuous post. Let's just be clear - I couldn't disagree more with Frank Turner's comments there.1 point

Just giving you an upvote, because it's a bit harsh you got downvoted for sharing a quote lol1 point

Not a fan of commercial sponsors at Glastonbury but I am quite looking forward to Goldie Looking Chain headlining the dryrobe stage.1 point
