  3. There's something perversely fair about the Glastonbury ticket drama in my opinion. Those who really want a ticket will generally hang around longer to try and get one. While those who are half-arsed just "trying" will drop out after half an hour or so. I don't know, I'm sure it will change one day, but I personally don't have any complaints.

  4. Blimey Neil. Someone asked for a quote and I posted it. I don't care about the downvote (but thanks to those who have upvoted me) but this is a bit of an odd response to a fairly innocuous post. Let's just be clear - I couldn't disagree more with Frank Turner's comments there.

  6. Would love to hear of Arcade Fire playing to 17 people at brixton academy, due to a nationwide crackdown on a) people who don't understand the concept of consent and b) sh*tty ticket prices.

  7. Any helpers would be massively appreciated, I am in the coach resale group (along with my Glasto buddy). I'll check what arrangements are for sharing the spreadsheet. Payment would ideally be made if you get through to keep it speedy. I would then refund anyone that bought for me immediately I have proof of purchase. The confirmation email comes through very quickly so them means the repayment would be made almost immediately. I will also be buying drinks on the farm for anyone that gets through for me. I understand some would be nervous about paying for strangers so an alternative would be to call for payment details if you get through, but that also relies on trust and takes time during which tickets may sell out, but whatever works is good! I can provide some ID and have been on here for years although not a prolific poster.

  10. I bought these in 2007 from Ian Gill Sculpture in The Greenfields. One is a stork and the other is an acorn leaf bird bath. My mum died in 2006 and my dad gave me her secret money stash he found in her purse. These both represent my mum, the stork being the carrier of babies and she carried me. And one of her sayings was "From Little Acorns, Mighty Oak Trees Grow". They always make me think of her even after all this time! 💗

  11. 3rd sale in a row where I didn't need a ticket and I managed to get some for others. I was done and dusted by 18:02 tonight. Hoping my karma points are full for the next time I'm in need

  12. Managed to get myself a Thursday coach ticket! Going solo at the moment but trying for 4 in the general resale on Sunday so fingers crossed. Totally avoided this part of the site for the last 6 months. Good to be back!

  13. I was at front for the jack white gig on the park stage in 2022. This dude rocks up half an hour before and starts chatting to the nice couple next to me about how he's here on a volunteering ticket but only bothered with one shift before deciding to jack it in. He then fills two empty pint cups with urine and places them on the other side do the barrier for someone else to deal with.. stays for 15 mins of the set and then leaves. My only regret in 41 years on this planet is that I stopped myself from pouring his own p*ss over him.

  14. The thing is I think a lot of us are spoilt by going every/most years. The spider is hugely impressive to anyone new. I bought my brother and his girlfriend to their first Glastonbury last year and they were blown away.

  16. There’s an army of people reading that would absolutely smash this sheet if they were available to help for a short period of time on Thurs or Sunday or ideally both . Please contact Matthew to help . I’m helping someone from here Thurs but will have sheet open incase departures aren’t available and hopefully will be full steam ahead . There will be some regulars on there . So if you aren’t sure help them and that should help the entire sheet as the help then becomes available from them to help others . Hopefully some spreadsheet green appears later in the week

  18. Usually in the Electronica & Dance thread someone makes a spreadsheet that says what genre each artist is, provides a link to a good example of one of their dj sets and says whether they are any good etc 🙂

  22. I'm available to help on Thursday, happy to pay with my own card in the interest of speed and speak to whoever I'm successful for separately to sort the money afterwards. I have some friends I am trying for in general sale. Haven't added them to any spreadsheets as in honesty - as it's their first time even trying for tickets - I think the ticket process is blowing their minds enough before I even try and explain any of our spreadsheets. If we manage to get them tickets early on in the Sunday sale though I'm happy to try for any spreadsheets here then too.

  24. This is the best Pukkelpop line-up from the last years. Maybe one of the best line-ups in the European 2024 circuit. Congrats to the booking team. They made an amazing line-up for all ages.

  26. Got confirmation email yesterday, quite excited about this as not worked Glastonbury for nearly 20 years. I think once you have done volunteering at festivals and then go to a paid role, you appreciate what other people are experiencing and I would never expect anyone to do anything I wasn't prepared to do myself. Apparently there are 30+ gates that get covered, won't find out where I am located till nearer the time, but hopefully one of the busier public gates as it would be more interesting. 9 shifts, fed 3 meals a day and we get staff camping near the farm I believe, not sure what field but there are bunkabins and we will have our caravan with us (my OH and myself). Will definitely try to get to the Monday night meet up 😁 Oh and I never Gossip 🤔😉

  28. They're one of those acts where when someone who's never been asks afterwards what was your highlight and you try to explain that one of them was enjoying cheesy music dj'd by two women dressed in pinnies and waving around feather dusters. And then you give up and say one of the headliners.

  30. Almost the opposite for me. Gave my white top hat (that I've had for ages) to the youngster sitting on her dad's shoulders towards the end of Elton last year. Didn't see that I'd need it again and she was enamored. The beaming smile (once her mom said is was OK to take it) will be my keepsake.

  32. I'm also not a fan of how long this is. Respectfully, I don't need to listen to 31 tracks. Edit it down, give me your best work. There's probably a really good 12-14 track album in here, but it feels very watered down for the theatre of a surprise double album.

  36. If any of you lucky ticket holders are able to help out your desperate ticketless efest mates by trying for resale tickets please send me a message and I can send you links to the spreadsheet @MatthewTurner has put together for this group. there is a WhatsApp group too so include your phone no in the message or I will try and include WhatsApp invite links when I message you the spreadsheet link. It might be in the morning before I can reply as I am being dragged to see Take That tonight, but your help would be amazing and I am sure there will be drinks and hugs in the fields if you help us get tickets. Coach Sale or general sale or both - all help is appreciated. Thanks x

  37. Another strong announcement with a good few established names, alongside some interesting new ones I'm looking forward to checking out. Still a good few to come for the Boiler and Booth but the Lift is looking like the place to be again this year with loads of great acts (Bolis, Cellini, English Teacher and Glass Beams added just from today that I'll be giving a look). Already concerned about the potential clashes but it's a good problem to have I guess!

  42. Absolutely ridiculous idea to end it there, huge % of attendees aren’t interested in music , just what they look like on Instagram and how many likes they can get - complete sell out by Damon & Co IMO Surely one of the greatest British Bands should end it at the Greatest British Festival

  44. Seen the Blur, girls and boys clip. What a car crash. Albarn telling the crowd "you're never f**king seeing us again so you may as well sing along now". A field full of vacuous wasters watching a concert through their phone screens. Its all about flexing that you were there rather than actually enjoying being there. I know every generation has disdain towards the youths coming up from behind, but f**k me this lot are a narcissistic bunch of twats, particularly in the USA.

  45. I think she's f**king amazing and from NFR onwards has absolutely stepped up a gear. Some of my favourite records of the last decade. But I also think she's way better on record than live, and that's absolutely fine. There are artists who are phenomenal live and mediocre recorded. She's the opposite. Almost no acts can do both equally well..

  49. 8 of the major meteorological agencies around the world have released their temperature forecasts for June. All 8 have gone for a warmer than average June in the Glastonbury area, some considerably so. Given the effect global warming has had on the climate and the temperature records that have been broken over the last year, that’s no real surprise, but nice to see such consistency nonetheless.

  50. If anyone is interested, Chaka Khan and Morcheeba are playing in Cascais on the Wednesday before the festival at CoolJazz. Just booked the cheapest standing tickets, less than 30 quid each. The park where CoolJazz is, is lovely. Bars, foodstalls and very close ot Cascais for food/drink before or after. We've an early flight on that day, but an afternoon nap will set us up for the gig. A nice warm up for the festival and a 5 minute walk back to our AirBnB after the show!
