Birthdays v Festies v reviews

I've sat here, looked at internet, snoozed and watched the fish, only trouble is I'm supposed to be getting ready for the carnage that is a birthday party/sleepover thing tomorrow. I can't move.

Award Winning

This weekend was expensive - firstly we tooled up the Mrs with a mid-range bow plus accessories and I bought a dozen - heavier weight 32" (45-55lb) arrows. Quicks must have been glad to see us. Then it was the club championships. And we all walked away with silverware. I got the best barebow score 331 and Z came second in the juniors. K got third in novices. Z also got a trophy for the Junior League (another second) and I won the league for Short Windsor (that's shooting 50 and then 40 yards)

I don't know if it's the neuro problems - but I feel really, badly totalled for the last few days. It could also be Plymuff's loss in the FA Cup I suppose, but i was bad before it. I've even stopped drinkin it's that bad! Maybe it's a cold looming slowly - i don't tend to get colds often. I Saw the Blockheads on Saturday and was hugely impressed with their musicianship - i always thought they effed and blinded and were rough 'punk' but they are far more refined than that. Really good musicia

Glasto essential!

Essential Glasto equipment: this is all you need! Folds up great for getting through the crowds and if you fit a horn - simple for moving around the track in muddy weather when you can finally get to move faster than those around you! Sorted! you never have to loo for a dry place to sit again! slobber!

Endorse It

Well forgot to unset the alarm so got wokened at 6.30am this morning, so much for the lie in today. The weather here is grim and I have to agree with William that when it's like this it sure dampens your festival spirits. But Metcheck now says some rain this morning (we aren't getting there til early afternoon so ground will be softer for tent pegs) Saturday temperatures hit 20 but there's a bit of mizzle in the morning (ah lie in weather) and a bit of rain Sunday night and then typical Monda

Busy, busy, busy!

Biggest news is that K has got an interview Friday! Bit it's just one part of our busy week and she has more after this! The weekend was chocker for us got our last batch of fish, - a moody male dwarf gourami, some over-sexed golden barbs and a Siamese Algae Eater (at last!) so we have a full tank now and so no more fish for a year or two. 50 of the colourful little critters and over a year of getting water stats spot on!!! We went down to see my gran who was a bit grumpy, cos her pension

Damn this wait!

The waiting's doing my head in now - still months before they re-evaluate my nervous system and then give me any drugs to combat the thing. My feeling is intermittent in my legs - it's mainly numbness or slight pins and needles but today my ankles and the tops of my metatarsals are giving me jyp! My hands have good or bad days - yesterday i had feeling in them for the first times in months - mostly they feel as though i've been pummelling sand and they're numb and not completely mine. Had

Accidental discovery

Went to the doctors yesterday as my flu from Glasto is still around three weeks later and wanted to check it wasn't aan infection what needed anti biotics. My real doctor wasn't available so saw the consultant - told i have no fluid on lungs or infection and that the coughing fits are probably down to not smoking increasing my suceptability to hayfever! Anyway I mention that i haven't had any news on the MRI yet - she has her computer monitor facing me as she does a search - seems the spe

Tumours!

Arghhhh the fish are getting sick - i think it's down to the heavy metals in Devon's water supply - the iron - hence our red soil. But my water kH values are falling and three fish have got tumours! Oh no! trying to find out what i need to do to fix it!

Frostbite

It's our first archery tournament on sunday the Frostbite outdoors over 80, 120 and 160 yards!!!! there will be other clubs there and we have to pick our bows up early - so i expect I'll shoot the neighbours who are pissin me off at the moment. In my drunken haze in the last week of work last year i messed up and have repro'd a whole magazine incorrectly - but the print run was too big to re-print - so if you fancy a solving a puzzle go in your local newsagents after Thursday and check out th

Weekend off

Been pretty busy recently:- Urban Lawns, Salisbury, Wychwood, Isle of Wight (Stones were fantastic) all on the bounce means this weekend we get a week off or would do if it weren't my cousin's wedding. With taking most of next week off for Glasto I've had nine mags to do in one week, plus reviews written, a couple of phone interviews and radio shows. The weather for Glasto is looking rubbish which is really depressing, as I'm there for all of Wednesday and Thursday on me own and was lookin' forw

Missing Meet

The off season meets are in full swing with the London one due on tonight I think at Synergy which looks like an excellent venue - I'm really gutted we're not going I do enjoy eFestivals meets. Then there's another one up Manchester - those are always legendary had a great time at both of the ones we attended. No news yet if there's an annual next year - but as the last one was down this neck of the woods I suspect it'll be up country and I'd have to do a lot of persuading to get K to drive

Weird illness

Z is ill temperature running at 100+ and her tonsils infested - she came down with it on Sunday after the fireworks. So K took her to the docs today - and so an amazing coincidence was discovered. Every year on the 9th of November Z goes to the docs with tonsillitis! What? Yup at the same time every year she gets it! How is this possible? We've jokingly said next year we'll have to tell the school - she will be ill on the 9th and get homework prepared for it! Even so a very weird thing ind

Going Green?

Waveform, being the ecologically green festival that it is raises some interesting questions which as an attendee I find myself wondering about. The biggest concerns the actual peace ceremony at the heart of the festival. Billed as an Earthdance it actually consisted of a poem read by a hippy woman which I personally felt failed to connect with the majority of the crowd. The wording seemed too couched in hippydom to be taken seriously. This raises a wider question, dance music has been aro

Bit of Luck

A new French Deli has opened on Fore Street so we went there yesterday to check it out. Downstairs is a tiny wine cellar - where i happened upon a bottle of 'Domaine de la Commanderie de St. Jean Merlot/Syrah VdP des Coteaux de Laurens' for £6.95. Drank it last night - it was truly wonderful - so i checked it's price on everywine.co.uk and it turns out it's normally £60 a bottle! Wow what a bargain! I think I'll be visiting the deli regularly! ...which was nice

Lantern fun tonight!

A busy weekend approaches with the footie tomorrow - Plymouth playing host to Birmingham and then I've got to back in time for a birthday party happening that evening. sunday is the weekly shop, plus archery and then a fireworks display and outdoor hot picnic (currently just an idea) no idea what I do there - but we thought a hot picnic was a good idea a few days ago. I also have to give some thought for our forthcoming title 'Rock Chick!' our new girl teen title - being put together by yo

Kernow

Went to Camelford and Tintagel, saw Gran she's looking thin. At Tintagel we drove passed the battle for Camelot re-enactment which looked cool but Cornwall was packed. Lunched in Boscatle, more family and wedding is June 16. There's a few B&Bs up for grabs tho - so we did think maybe we'd buy one and we saw a mobile home towing a car and K said that was the answer. Most of the pixies are bare stone now - shame i preferred their bright colours. Tonight it's damn hot! Just been reading

Reading tonight

Feeling reasonably excited today - and no it's not the outtolunch rum on the way to work! My magazine for today has been put back to tuesday - result! Not only that metcheck predicts much better weather for Reading - yay! Well except for the packed I've packed all wet weather gear and no chance to repack before we leave. As it could be the last year we go for a while we'll try to cover nearly every band! A slog but we're both up for it this year. I appear to not need sleep anymore K th

Glasto - great!

Had a great time, spent wednesday and thursday walking around the greenfields, then off to cider bus, then off to some place to dance all night! Kaz turned up Friday which took a while to meet up as i was waiting at West carparks and she parked in east - by then my phone was on its last legs. Camping in Dragonfield was well handy for Bimble inn - defo camping near there at Beaut Days this year. More rain than any previous Glasto ever - but less deep mud cos of all the drainage. Still heavil

Beautiful Daze

Just got back - after a weekend of cider! the lack of feeling in my hands meant i kept dropping pints so I've joined the tankard brigade. Lovely weekend - although it's a bit of a realisation for me that my real life friends are less festie hardened and found it more difficult. Loved the weekend - although it seemed a much slower pace than last week's Endorse It. Still more fan Glasto for me and equally as nice as Wychwood - i do like late night (all night) entertainment and so would put it thir

The Fiat - a cautionary Tale

To explain for Bus: So it's May and we've got 12 festivals line up for the year. So K takes the car into Nationwide for a complete service, explaining it's got to do about 2000 miles in the next 3 months and we're prepared to pay to ensure it all runs smoothly. Should have guessed when she came to pick it up at the allotted time and it was still in bits, that it was gonna go pear shape. However they said it'd be ready in half an hour, so a coffee later she leaves the garage. During the

Here comes the sun....

Ahh Endorse It on Friday - who knows what time we're gonna get there! Or for that matter where we're camping! But looking forward to it lots! Back to the Planet OMFG!!!! The forecast for Beaut days is deteriorating - wonder if it's too late to get a tipi?

The fast paced NHS!

So all tests done and the docs have ruled out muscle, blood, joints or bones as the cause of the problems. Seems it's neuological - now whether that's down to the quantities of drink and drugs I've bashed into my system or whether it's something inherited genetically. Thay can't say, just yet, but they'll be able to tell me... ...January 17th! What, how long? So until then I have to suffer what feels like (not that i know) arthritis, in my ligaments it seems. Great, the not knowing but know
