Guideponies! WTF!

A continuing saga of bizarre animal facts! So currently the feature I'm doing is on miniature horses and these creatures: Now i'm not sure whether to put this in jokes. Is it real? Or has someone made this whole site about them as a joke? guidehorses click The picture of a horse in trainers looks fake! and the pictures on here: click had me in stitches faves include: and Their feature on ponies in the movies click had me convinced it was joke! So i checked IMDB for

Damn this wait!

The waiting's doing my head in now - still months before they re-evaluate my nervous system and then give me any drugs to combat the thing. My feeling is intermittent in my legs - it's mainly numbness or slight pins and needles but today my ankles and the tops of my metatarsals are giving me jyp! My hands have good or bad days - yesterday i had feeling in them for the first times in months - mostly they feel as though i've been pummelling sand and they're numb and not completely mine. Had

Seth Lakeman & Friends Review

Woah two staff Christmas dos mine and K's a winter beer festival at Wetherspoons and Xmas shopping and a few ales = Sunday and I'm still plastered! Anyway here's me review from Thursday: Dan Donnelly – Exeter University 14th December 2006 The Belfast born New York living singer, songwriter is Seth Lakeman’s first support act of the evening and is having a few technical difficulties, which eat into the time available for his set. He opens with ‘Love Will Save The Day’ playing to more of a hu

Have a cool Yule

Ring out those solstice Bells – tonight is the long night. So it’s time for a merry Christmas, Saturnalia, Yule, the Long Night, Solstice etc The solstice is the time of the death of the old sun and the birth of the dark-half of the year. It was called "Alban Arthuan by the ancient Druids. It is the end of month of the Elder Tree and the start of the month of the Birch. The three days before Yule is a magical time. This is the time of the Serpent Days or transformation...The Elder and

come on Plymouth.... Football round up

Ollie's Green and White Barmy Army are on telly tonight - so I'm looking forward to seeing some of our new players fielded for the first time as hopefully we crush coventry live on Sky tonight. Plymouth have Barnet away in the next round of the FA Cup too. Someone they should overcome with hopefully a home (or away) draw against some Premierhip opposition awaiting us in Round5 - our table position doesn't belie our performance. Despite the scoreline against Birmingham - which was a terrific matc

Young Luvvies

Well Z has started her week of performances, and judging by here quick recap over a huried breakfast it sounds fantastic. Seems one of the performers (they range in age from 11 to 13) got a bit worried she was tired and not up for her part enough. So she decided best to pep herself up and drank seven(!) cans of RedBull just before the start of the performance. She raced on stage delirious said her words at pace, fizzed around, did a spin and promptly collapsed. Cue curtain falls, paramedics a

Electrifying!

Got phoned up Tuesday out of the blue and told that today i was to go to hospital for a Neural Response Test in the neurphysiology department - so off i go - getting 'white coat syndrome' and have myself electrocuted - ahh happy days - like holding onto electric fences it were - great fun and no hint despite asking as to how the test went - though he did ask if i had problems with my little fingers - can't say as I've noticed and also the last test on my feet i couldn't feel when he put the elec

Happy Vernal Equinox!

Well tonight just after midnight (seven minutes after) it's the Vernal Equinox or Ostara/Eostre/Ladys Day. The earth awakens... new life emerges, sap rises, buds shoot and spring flowers are celebrated as gifts from nature. Spring returns and rejuvenates our own life force. Wear Green! The equinoxes At the times when the Sun is crossing the celestial equator day and night are of nearly equal length at all latitudes and so we call these dates the equinoxes. In March, as the Sun i

Soon be Beltaine

to find someway to explain what i mean about ancestors when the answer appeared in the book i was reading a while ago. A Hat Full Of Sky by Terry Pratchett here is what Tiffany says to the Hiver (Arthur) on page 304. And that's pretty much nail on head. Our responses are either monkey, lizard, rat, fish, or a host of other old echoes. It's knowing which impulse rules your head in conflict or need at any moment which gives us the ability to control it and remain human.

Big news soon....

Well there's a big change in my life on the horizon, and I can't say anymore than that but it can't come soon enough. Looking forward to heading to Spain in the beginning of December - the temperature in Murcia is over 20 degrees both day and night at the moment - lovely! Have to get in touch with Boris and Jo and firm up meeting them - not looking forward to getting the plane at 4am though! But really looking forward to the first break since festie season and getting a Wii too! Looks like Metr

just when I thought it was over....

Since about August I've been getting a lovely buzzing noise in my ears and a bit of disorientation - sounds like the results of a good night out? Well I thought it was hearing damage - so went to the doctors. Found out earlier this week that there's no damage to my hearing at all - the noise it seems is not coming from my ears! So wa-hey back to the brain scan machine for me! And it seems the doctor played down the results of my previous tests!!! Terrific! On the plus side I do get to see

More MRI, narrowing it down

Last week I went back to the doctors for more tests - now they've really narrowed it down, and provided a few answers. Firstly my tinnitus is not caused by exposure to rock music at festivals, it seems there's something blocking the signal that runs through the bone in my ear to my brain. This block is microscopic, non malignant (by now it should have grown through the bone it is housed in if it was) and has been growing really slowly for decades, until it bumped against the nerve. So my p

Errrr....

So here is my first ever errr blog. No idea what I'm doing but at least I've finished my WOMAD review and can concentrate on my daughter's birthday organising, possibly even buying her a present. and whether we can afford the tipi at Endorse It. Well with this agreed it's gonna be fairly sparse innit.

lazy days

Ah well the boss is still away, says he may not even be back by Friday - bonus ball! Spent most of last night trying to fix the Quake virus - bloody nightmare! Mind you if i wasn't such a cheap skate I'd by proper malware protection instead of winging it with Microsofts oblivious Defender (Beta) also 2 of the fish are suffering. One has dropsy (Neon Rainbowfish) and the other is on the bottom looking a bit on her last fins (Blue Gourami). So checked water stats - all spot on! Dammit why a

The Fiat - a cautionary Tale

To explain for Bus: So it's May and we've got 12 festivals line up for the year. So K takes the car into Nationwide for a complete service, explaining it's got to do about 2000 miles in the next 3 months and we're prepared to pay to ensure it all runs smoothly. Should have guessed when she came to pick it up at the allotted time and it was still in bits, that it was gonna go pear shape. However they said it'd be ready in half an hour, so a coffee later she leaves the garage. During the

Kernow

Went to Camelford and Tintagel, saw Gran she's looking thin. At Tintagel we drove passed the battle for Camelot re-enactment which looked cool but Cornwall was packed. Lunched in Boscatle, more family and wedding is June 16. There's a few B&Bs up for grabs tho - so we did think maybe we'd buy one and we saw a mobile home towing a car and K said that was the answer. Most of the pixies are bare stone now - shame i preferred their bright colours. Tonight it's damn hot! Just been reading

Here Comes The Rain!

Everyone seems a bit despondant about the weather, but i don't seem to mind it in the slightest. K moans cos it effects her camera - and she has a point. But me I'm quite looking forward to my pint staying a bit cooler. Ground's too dry for much mud - so I'm happy. Only for Reading would it seriously get me down and that's only cos the whole place turns depressing. So I'm not that bothered! I'm more worried about the non-appearance of Z's present from a website I've never used before! 24 hou

Endorse It

Well forgot to unset the alarm so got wokened at 6.30am this morning, so much for the lie in today. The weather here is grim and I have to agree with William that when it's like this it sure dampens your festival spirits. But Metcheck now says some rain this morning (we aren't getting there til early afternoon so ground will be softer for tent pegs) Saturday temperatures hit 20 but there's a bit of mizzle in the morning (ah lie in weather) and a bit of rain Sunday night and then typical Monda

No beer at the pub!

Last night went up the New North Bridge Inn for a beer and they had none - only bottles and cans no draught stuff at all!!! Never been to a pub without beer before. Worked my butt off in work and it's all done, awaiting proofing and signing off then I'm off to the pub and then home to pack for Beaut Days. Terrific! Will blog when i get back!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

Blimey how good was that finale last night? Wow! Levellers rule! Brilliant weekend - musically a bit average at times, but lots of folks to meet - the most friendly festival of the summer. The most fantastic fun 10-12,000 people can have in a field! Cycle Taxis were such a brill idea! That walk would have been a killer else! So many people met, so much fun had! No more vodka!!!! And i pegged Jeremy, but i think it fell out of his dreads!
