Reading

Reading was awesome saw loads of bands and have loads of write ups to do, stayed up til late watchin the cabaret, really knackered now but had the best Reading for ages. We were gonna knock it on the head, but with it being so good, not sure we can! Turns out GreenMan doesn't clash with it. But i do wanna do Sunrise if it's on. Have to wait and see. Here's my score card for the weekend: Friday: Mr Fogg -7 pretty nice Duels - 6 alright Fields - 8 like it crazy Icelenadic influence Send

Old Git?

Well tonight I'm supposed to be out with the lads watching the footie, but four things have happened: 1. I'm becoming very choosy about what i drink and turn my nose up at lager or normal beer these days, all i want is a pint of real ale. Blimey, it's a sad fact but it's true. The pub in question only sells rubbish. Instead of just sitting there agreeing to drink lager - i suddenly found myself viciferously complaining. 2. The pub has taken out one of it's satellite feeds - or so the manag

Family ehhh!

Stitched up like a right kipper I've been and here's for why. Babysitting for my sister tomorrow - looking after my neice while her parents take their yacht out for a race. Fine. she phones me yesterday saying as I can cook (trained chef doncha know) how about I make them a meal for when they get back. Okay I say, conversation meanders on a while, then I say how many am I cooking for? she says 9 to 11 including kids and crew! Nine! Terrific! Also they drink like fishes and yes I know I do,

Arrrghhhhh!

House is up for sale, we have new neighbours and they are bustards of the highest order. Loud, stupid and on a drug fuelled binge that's lasted 4 days so far. I wouldn't mind but their music's shiet and they shout bollocks and one of them just howls all night. but we can't complain or it's constituted us not getting on with the neighbours and could hamper a sale. K however is using her drug squad connecos (from her council work) soon and as they are a multi-occupancy house without a licence

...docs visit

Well the specialist thinks it's serious - and he said it's compounded by my having arthritis - i didn't know i even had arthritis! When did they find that out? And when were they going to tell me? Seems i also get swollen joints in the cold weather, but the lack of hand co-ordination - it's getting worse by the week. In the words of the Guvnor "Damn these useless hands!" and seems to be the cause of greatest concern to both the doc and the specialist, especially the rapidity of my decline.

...and on a more positive note!

Sorry about the last blog, was feeling a bit down! anyway in the words of Culture Shock (i think) Onwards and Upwards! A couple of days ago Z brought home her saxophone and already the sound has gone from sounding like a foghorn to sounding a bit like 'in The Mood' This is fantastic and I'll tell you for why! She'll want to go and see Nick Turner now (and less excitingly The Zutons) which is great news - can't wait til she learns silver machine - it'll be a proud dad moment that day! Z also a

...all going swimmingly

Getting the hang of the new job, I've got a rough idea of how it works. The hard bit is working out what I've done wrong when it doesn't! Now I've got to get up to pace as rapidly as possible. Archery was hard work Friday - straight off the train into archery, Sunday's frostbite was well attended but blustery and it's the longbow league shoot this friday. If I get a good score in that I'll be rewarding myself at the beer festival mmmm 60+ Winter-only brews & Festive Cyders, a Tombola and Pro

where's all the music gone?

Well it's about this time of year that I start to look at a few gigs to review, and get into the swing of things before the summer season. Only, this year there's absolutely nothing around to review. Thankfully Vibraphonic, is on the horizon, hopefully that is: K went to a councillors meeting the other day, where they suggested that in order to save some money after they lost it all gambling in banks around the world, they cut the festival budgets. firstly it was suggested they just stop fund

Target Practice

Well two significant things today: Firstly it's the first anniversary of my Dad's death. It's depressing having no family as they're the only folks actually interested in what you're doing. I've seen him briefly in the 'otherworld' and he's happy enough i think. But I've kind of knocked the whole spirit stuff on the head the last few months, too many people opposed to my views i guess and withdrawn myself from the edges of the spiritworld. I've had the occasional trickster, laughing at my sit

Beaut Days Overview!

Overview Bloomin’ Heck! What a Ball! I couldn’t wait for the fourth Beautiful Days hoping it would at least live up to the previous three, which from its superlative start has been bettered each year. I really should put more faith in the organisers, Exeter-based promoter Dave Farrow and friends who really have nurtured the growth of Beautiful Days carefully and are clearly realising their vision to put Devon at the top of the festival tree. This year’s festival was better and grander t

Reading tonight

Feeling reasonably excited today - and no it's not the outtolunch rum on the way to work! My magazine for today has been put back to tuesday - result! Not only that metcheck predicts much better weather for Reading - yay! Well except for the packed I've packed all wet weather gear and no chance to repack before we leave. As it could be the last year we go for a while we'll try to cover nearly every band! A slog but we're both up for it this year. I appear to not need sleep anymore K th

Unfit 3 months!

Ack ack ack! went to the gym lunch time for the first time in 3 months - couldn't face the weights so did a 6K cross train over some hills and backwards for a while for half an hour in total. Damn thing almost killed me! I'm now feeling very stiff and achy! Conclusive proof doing festivals for weeks on end does not make you fit! But at least I've been off the ciggies again for a few days now. Mind you my sweat was so stinky due to Black Reading Flu - i think it's best to burn my gym kit in

Back to School

Well I'm being driven mad at work by Sleeping Beauty - I'm putting a comic book with games in it of the story together and the story is too short so I'm having to pad the thing out and trying to do it by just adding floss rather than my natural instinct to add superfluous stuff and confuse kids through out Europe. You know like saying she had a puppy or that her sister escaped the curse etc. But no i have to stick to the traditional story, bah. Anyways, it's also the first day back at school.

What a day!

Wow - slightly hung over after a glorious weekend. The mighty Everton thrashed the Reds! Yay! We managed to find a pub to watch it in. For a while yesterday we were top of the League!!! I'm able to tolerate smoking marshmallow leaves and so severely cutting down on my nicotine intake! Plymouth were all over QPR and unlucky not to have won - they drew - but the team are playing football Akos (golden boots) is class and so is the mighty Uncle Barry. They're good enough on yesterdays performanc

Cash Frenzy - and we're supposed to be saving

Oh no! Having just been to the next gen console thread and having spent the weekend with four kids who all has PSPs and loving the WiFi facility and game share options. I've decided to buy a few new games. So when MCV arrived on my desk with incidentally an interesting write up on the Sony PS3 delays. This combined with an indepth of the new Wii I found which makes the thing look like it's still firmly marketted at kids. I got out my highlighter pen and have made a list of games I'd like: Obv

New Beginning

Our new neighbours moved in yesterday more bleedin' students - Exeter students have too much cash - a top of the range rangerover with new plates, a 2004 mini cooper a Capri and 3 VW Golfs all now reside littering the roads! Opposite new students also moved in. So we've had enough - last year we had no rubbish collection cos their cars blocked the road, a sleepless daughter from their late night swearing and partying, our garden used as their tip! So we're not going through it again and putt

Chip off the old blog?

Seem our daughter Z has been nominated by her new school - for a special award she's competing with 100 or so Exeter school kids for the Excellence in Exeter Award - we all have to attend a posh event at the Universtiy where we'll find out if she's won. even if she hasn't she wins a pin and a certificate. i'm dead chuffed she's up against some kids nearly doubly her age! Of course like her parent she'll discover drink and drugs at 14 and screw her academic life up as she goes off the rails - b

Happy Samhain

To some yesterday, Halloween was Samhain but to me it was last night and now Samhain starts proper until the sull moon on November Fifth where burn a huuuuge bonfire! Last night we prowled the streets pretending we were fairie folk - knocked at doors requesting treats for tricks - performed our magic and we were rewarded with much bounty. (and maltesers too ) ended up with a carrier bag full, on meeting those less fortunate who inquired how we had such huge hauls of sugar and coca we replie

Lantern fun tonight!

A busy weekend approaches with the footie tomorrow - Plymouth playing host to Birmingham and then I've got to back in time for a birthday party happening that evening. sunday is the weekly shop, plus archery and then a fireworks display and outdoor hot picnic (currently just an idea) no idea what I do there - but we thought a hot picnic was a good idea a few days ago. I also have to give some thought for our forthcoming title 'Rock Chick!' our new girl teen title - being put together by yo
