Stardate 120307

I don't know if it's the neuro problems - but I feel really, badly totalled for the last few days. It could also be Plymuff's loss in the FA Cup I suppose, but i was bad before it. I've even stopped drinkin it's that bad! Maybe it's a cold looming slowly - i don't tend to get colds often. I Saw the Blockheads on Saturday and was hugely impressed with their musicianship - i always thought they effed and blinded and were rough 'punk' but they are far more refined than that. Really good musicia

I really want to go and see this. so i thought I'd mention that the Monty Python stage show - starring none of the Pythons but with Rice as King Arfur has hit the West End. This way hopefully I'll remember to request tickets for Christmas. Which reminds me dammit I've been sucked into the whole Xmas present thing already! To the extent that my mind is already making lists and thinking hmmm add that to the Xmas list. It's not even Halloween yet FFS!

Soon be Beltaine

to find someway to explain what i mean about ancestors when the answer appeared in the book i was reading a while ago. A Hat Full Of Sky by Terry Pratchett here is what Tiffany says to the Hiver (Arthur) on page 304. And that's pretty much nail on head. Our responses are either monkey, lizard, rat, fish, or a host of other old echoes. It's knowing which impulse rules your head in conflict or need at any moment which gives us the ability to control it and remain human.

So the results are in:

First off it's definitely not what my dad had! Result! As it's not the neurones which are effected. Secondly i have synaptic damage - he said to think of it like copper wiring running through the body carrying the signals - well it's stripped - this is most likely caused by alcohol or prescription drugs - but countered I - i've never been prescribed prescription drugs - to which he gave me a hard stare. Doctors know too much! Thirdly i need to have more tests as the upper body problems i h

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Back from Shhhh - once again the most fun I've had in a field all summer - loads of workshops (most craft stuff I've seen since Glasto) loads of extra stuff to get involved in like jousting, gurning, tug of war, football, political issues, - and loads more. Mead, ciders like Hecks (Hex) a whole perry pub, great performances (although the music took a back seat), lovely location woodland was great with lights, visuals, glitterballs, hammocks etc. Lots of bands i liked from Glasto new bands' final

Woah two staff Christmas dos mine and K's a winter beer festival at Wetherspoons and Xmas shopping and a few ales = Sunday and I'm still plastered! Anyway here's me review from Thursday: Dan Donnelly – Exeter University 14th December 2006 The Belfast born New York living singer, songwriter is Seth Lakeman’s first support act of the evening and is having a few technical difficulties, which eat into the time available for his set. He opens with ‘Love Will Save The Day’ playing to more of a hu

Science Round Up

I've been very interested in the latest developments in science recently so thought I'd mention a few: CARMAKERS SUED Woke up this morning to the most amazing news that the state of California is suing six carmakers for costs associated with their cars' greenhouse gas emissions. story here Most unlikely that they'll win but boy General Motors, Toyota, Ford, Honda, Chrysler and Nissan are sure likely to think of alternative forms of fuel now. MISSING LINK FOUND Our early ancestors have b

Remember to keep on trucking

Having seen the bbc coverage of Big Green Gathering today I rather wish i was there then i followed the links to Truck http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/collective/A13343843 - and I'm definitely going next year it's the week after Guilfest. so here's the plans already for 2007! subject to change of course! So that'll be: Hi Fi South (possibly) or Run to The Sun (we've never been and it is local) Wychwood (essential) IOW Glastonbury Calling Cornbury/Priddy (more likely the former) Guilfest

Religion a potted history

'Ancient' religions tended to be more based on science - witnessing and celebrating the changes of the seasons and the forces at work in nature - they didn't have science to explain this but gave the forces at work arhetypes. Many of the old religions also took into account the human condition - using archetypes to explain personality traits - loving, violent, mad, forgiving, optimistic, sanguine, introverted etc. In those days there was no school of psychology. These were described as frequenci

Red Square

It's Monday and the tide is indeed high but I'm holding on. it was friend's birthday last weekend and they'd organised for their friends to all get together and have a meal in a local Russian restuarant. Nice food but very expensive. £18 for reindeer steaks! Anyway the beer was unpronouncable and strong, the wine from France and the menu incomprehensible. The waitresses spoke little English and all looked like girls you might have seen in dodgy porn, or so i was told. There was a whole seper

Ready to Party - yeahhhhhhhh

Yes we got Glasto tickets (though technically Neil got them as he managed to get the page open) then straight after up popped the page on my PC and away i went getting tickets for random efesters including one lot whose address had no vowels in the whole thing! This year as we got tickets the radio was playing Boogie 2 Nite so we got up and leapt about to: glastonbury obviously! Managed to get some sleep this year for a change, i think going to the Exeter Food and Drink thing helped

Reading tonight

Feeling reasonably excited today - and no it's not the outtolunch rum on the way to work! My magazine for today has been put back to tuesday - result! Not only that metcheck predicts much better weather for Reading - yay! Well except for the packed I've packed all wet weather gear and no chance to repack before we leave. As it could be the last year we go for a while we'll try to cover nearly every band! A slog but we're both up for it this year. I appear to not need sleep anymore K th

We were gonna knock it on the head, but with it being so good, not sure we can! Turns out GreenMan doesn't clash with it. But i do wanna do Sunrise if it's on. Have to wait and see. Ordered a bow and more evidence

Just got chatting to the country's master bowyer - and he says he'll make me a custom bow! Cos I'm tall with long arms it'll have a 30" draw - and will be made from yew and hickory! Plus it's half the price of usual bows of this spec. Secondly, happened to be checking on the 'traditionalness' of this bow when i found this: While the English used the Longbow, Keltic archers were pictured and described using shorter, gently recurved Flatbows. Below is a hunting scene showing 16th century Sco

Old Git?

Well tonight I'm supposed to be out with the lads watching the footie, but four things have happened: 1. I'm becoming very choosy about what i drink and turn my nose up at lager or normal beer these days, all i want is a pint of real ale. Blimey, it's a sad fact but it's true. The pub in question only sells rubbish. Instead of just sitting there agreeing to drink lager - i suddenly found myself viciferously complaining. 2. The pub has taken out one of it's satellite feeds - or so the manag

Off To Brighton

Ahhh things are never easy are they? Not only do Liverpool play Everton (3-0 last time! ) at midday but Z and I have an archery competition at 2pm on the Sunday!!!! So as it stands with the journey taking 3.5 hours we leave early on Saturday to get there and sunday to get back! What a pain - worsened by the factit's my mate's birthday on the Friday too! Accckk! This fixture congestion is nothing compared to the sixth round of the FA Cup whch falls on the 17th Feb - arrrggghhhh! We have an ani

No Slaughtering Matter!

Watched the F word two things: 1. Cooking garden snails is he mad? And feeding them to his kids! Reminded me of the minister and his burger! 2. He's a chef but he's never been to a slaughter house? How as part of my 706/2 i had to go to slaughter houses and reclaiming factories. How come he'd never been to one before is he not a real chef? -Surely everyone who eats meat should go to a slaughter house to see what happens? You can't think of meat dissaccoiated from animals surely? Had to laugh a

Last night went up the New North Bridge Inn for a beer and they had none - only bottles and cans no draught stuff at all!!! Never been to a pub without beer before. Worked my butt off in work and it's all done, awaiting proofing and signing off then I'm off to the pub and then home to pack for Beaut Days. Terrific! Will blog when i get back!

New Beginning

Our new neighbours moved in yesterday more bleedin' students - Exeter students have too much cash - a top of the range rangerover with new plates, a 2004 mini cooper a Capri and 3 VW Golfs all now reside littering the roads! Opposite new students also moved in. So we've had enough - last year we had no rubbish collection cos their cars blocked the road, a sleepless daughter from their late night swearing and partying, our garden used as their tip! So we're not going through it again and putt
