Held in Derbyshire, the Y-Not Festival started in 2006 with over 30 bands and DJs. This three day festival steers away from sponsorship and high prices. In 2009 the festival runs from Friday 31st July until Sunday 2nd August over two stages at a site on Mouldridge Lane, near Matlock, Derbyshire.

The festival attempts to have an intimate nature, with many of the bands camping with festival goers, and friendly stewards. The festival is expected to offer around 50 acts across 2 stages with a diverse mix of music from Indie rock right through to high energy African music to Rock and Roll. Late night entertainment includes a dance tent, or camp fire singalongs and there will be real ales and local ciders available.

The acts confirmed for Y-Not include headliners The King Blues on Friday, Noah and The Whale on Saturday, and Young Knives on Sunday, acoustic headliners Beardyman (Fri), Karima Francis (Sat), and Sam Beeton (Sun), plus Frank Turner, Nine Black Alps, The Rascals, Johnny Foreigner, Baddies, Whisky Cats, False Image, Shot Shot Stacy, Dananananaykroyd, Tellison, Kill It Kid, The Lancashire Hotpots, Zambula, SOS, Minus IQ, Astro Physics, Boy Com, King Pleasure and The Biscuit Boys, The Souvenirs, Sunday Driver, Jim Lockey & The Solemn Sun, Young Guns, Foy Vance, Napoleon IIIrd, One Eskimo, Cara Roxanne, The Dandilions, HUW, Joe Summers, Matt Allen, Chris Millward, and Oliver Wynn. With more acts still to be confirmed.

An adult weekend ticket is priced at £42 include 3 nights camping. Youth (10-15 - ID required) tickets £29. Under 10s free. A Friday day ticket is priced at £21, a Saturday day ticket which includes camping for Saturday night is priced at £24, a Sunday day ticket includes camping for Sunday night is priced at £17.

The festival has put together a reward scheme for people to get to and from the festival greenly. The hope is to cut the carbon footprint down to a minimum, by having at least 60% of festival goers arrive by either public transport or 4+ people in each car. In doing so, festival goers will be rewarded with lanyards, programmes, posters, T-shirts and showers.

To reduce the festival's carbon footprint and also to increase accessibility, there will be a free shuttle bus which connects the Buxton - Ashbourne bus route, and Matlock train station to the Festival. Travellers will be able to simply book their free place online at www.ynotfestivals.com/bus.php once the service becomes available.

More information will be here when available.
