Non-VW owners

Whilst this festival is called Volksfest, it is not prohibitive in letting non-Volkswagon owners attend. Whilst many VW owners camp in special reserved camping beside the main arena, above the arena on the slopes of Newnham Park is open to all, with the added bonus of being able to camp next to your vehicle most of the time. BBQ's (off the ground) are permitted, but not open fires, there are proper festival food stalls in the main arena.

No Glass

No Glass is permitted on site, please remember this when packing. Please do not leave any kit behind when you leave the Park. There are specific designated recycling points on the hill, please use them, try to leave the site as you found it.

New for 2011

Over the course of Plymouth Volksfest 2011, Film Tank, in conjunction with PVF events will be running a Cinema Tent. This will include a film festival, showcasing some of the best short films from around the UK, alongside a great programme of well known commercial films, exclusive footage of the previous 2010 event, and a chance for budding film makers to showcase their short (under 10 minutes) films with prizes on offer in various categories. The closing date for entries is 30th April 2011 .

Family camping

Again for 2011, family camping fields will be just over the river to the east of the site. This is generally the quietest area of the site, in a fenced and gated area. Access to the site is over one of many pedestrian bridges. Separate vehicular access is signposted from the road. You will need to specifically book this area when ordering your tickets. Designated toilet and water facilities.

Club camping/ Campervan camping

For 2011, campervan pitch sizes are designated areas of 6mX8m to allow for awnings. ONE vehicle per pitch/pass. Should you wish to bring a second vehicle with you, please purchase a second pass, thank you. Pitches are sold on a first come, first served basis. This area will need to be specifically booked when ordering your tickets. If your party is more than 15 adult weekend tickets. It may be worth considering booking as a club.

Kids stuff

There's a wealth of activities for kids to do - these are often not fully listed in the programme, and there is a chalk board at the entrance, and more information in the workshop tents, as well activities in the large kids' area.

Show'n'Shine

The festival offers VW owners a chance to show off their vehicles in various categories, and provide festival goers a chance to look at all the entries in the arena. This year the show and shine display is going to be held on the Sunday with the Saturday being aimed at the clubs displays with great prizes for the best and wackiest club.

Bajas

The festival offers the chance to go offroad with Bajas (pronounced badgers) on a specially devised course beside the site. The BajaClub offer off road challenges over two days. Those with Bajas need to get their cars checked over by a BajaClub marshal to join in with the various off-road challenges. Festival goers are welcome to watch or ride with a BajaClub member. Rides are given for a small donation to the club.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome onsite under full supervision. They must be kept on leads at all times, even in camping areas, and must be cleaned up after.

More information will be here when available.
