This will be the 36th Village Pump festival, offering fun for all types, and ages. The festival features internationally-known acts from the world of Roots/Folk and Blues music, and takes place in 2009 from Thursday 23rd until Sunday 26th July.

The 2009 line up so far includes: Baaba Maal, Adrian Edmondson and the Bad Shepherds, Loudon Wainwright, Alabama 3, Edward II, Saw Doctors, 17 Hippies, The Omega 3, O'death, Woodpigeon, Luka Bloom, King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, Steve Knightley, Ross and Jarleth, Achanak, Roy Bailey and Tony Benn, Conservatoire Folk Ensemble, Ian Siegal, and Hazmat Modine. See here for the line-up details to date.

NOTE: Shane MacGowan is no longer appearing.

All events take place in marquees and the compact site with three separate stages plus a childrens tent, comedy evening, workshops covering a wide range of interests, beer tents, and a myriad of trade stalls selling food and items from all over the world.

As well as the musical performances, you can also expect dances, workshops, informal sessions, street entertainment and a complete children's programme with music, childrens dances, storytelling, puppets, magic and circus skills.

Tickets are priced at £115 weekend with free camping, but if you buy before 1st July they are £105. Tickets for children between 10 and 15 years old are half price. N.B. Children between 10 – 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Children aged under 10 have free entry with a ticket holding adult. To buy tickets, click here.

A new introduction in 2009 is the first Pump Factor competition to find a winning artist/artists to play on one of the main stages before the end of the festival. This is an opportunity for unsigned musicians/singers to play the festival. All artists can enter by sending in their CDs demonstrating their talents plus a photo and £5 payable to Dorothy House Hospice (the festival's favoured charity) to Jack Daniels PUMP, Prospect House, Peverell Avenue East, Poundbury, Dorchester, Dorset DT1 3WE. Email address = jack@hatm.co.uk . Entries must be in by Friday 26th June at the latest.

A group of musicians will then select the best eight acts to perform an audition for a panel of expert judges on the Friday of the Festival. This will be just one number of their own choice, either a cover of another songwriters work, or one of their own. The winner will then be selected and offered the chance to open the evening’s entertainment on a main stage on Sunday. An additional offer of a main slot in next years festival programme is also part of the prize.

Camping and car parking are all on site close at hand.

The programme starts at around 7pm on the Thursday, 1pm on Friday and 9am on Saturday and Sunday. Music finishes 12 midnight Thursday and Sunday and 1am Friday and Saturday.

There'll be more information here when available.
