Sziget has loads of other things on offer to festival goers, as well as the music, there is; theatre, dance, classical music, cabaret, performances, films, fine art, crafts, literary presentations, programmes for kids, sports and other free time activities.

Sziget Festival, (pronounced see'-get) takes place on Óbudai-sziget ("Old-Buda Island"), an island in the Danube, Budapest, Hungary. Taking place in August, the festival started as a local event in 1993 playing host to various Hungarian artists and has grown into a large European festival, showcasing over a thousand international artists, from many genres, to 400,000 visitors, half of which come from outside Hungary.

2010's Sziget Festival will be from Wednesday 11th to Monday 16th August.

Line-up

Muse, Iron Maiden and Kasabian are the first confirmed headliners with Madness, Public Image Ltd, Bad Religion, The Specials, Billy Talent, Children Of Bodom, Danko Jones, Enter Shikari, Faithless, Gentleman, Gorillaz Sound System, Jared Leto, Nina Hagen, Calvin Harris, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan, DJ Shadow, Sander van Doorn, Andy Moor, Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick and Joel Mull, Deadmau5, Gwar, Ill Niño, Infected Mushroom, Iron Maiden, K.I.Z., Kasabian, Lyapis Trubetskoy, Monster Magnet, Muse, Papa Roach, Paradise Lost, Ska-P, Skindred, Subsonica, The 69 Eyes, The Cribs, The Hives, The Toy Dolls, and more confirmed. Day 0

Sziget will present two concerts on the now traditional 'Day 0' which this year falls on 10th August. A Jamaican fiesta 'The Celebration of Reggae and Ska' will celebrate the 65th anniversary of the birth of Bob Marley on the Main stage, with established Hungarian names in the genre alongside international stars. With Ladánybene 27, KRSA és a Paso Brass, The Aggrolites, The Skatalites, Toots & the Maytals, The Wailers, and headlined by UB40.

On the World Music stage the biggest names in Hungarian rock and World Music will be paying a tribute to the memory of Tamás Cseh, revisiting the musical milestones of the legendary singer/songwriter who passed away last year. The line-up features Heaven Street Seven, the Csík band, Péterfy Bori & Love Band, PASO, János Másik, Napra, Bin-Jip, the Kistehén band, András Lovasi, Bea Palya, Balaton, Quimby, Besh o droM, Legát, Szilvia Bognár and Ágnes Herczku, Etnofon Zenei Társulás and Evelin Tóth and Zoltán Lantos. Each artist has reinterpreted one Tamás Cseh song, which they will perform along with a few of their original songs, so we can look forward to a five hour concert on Day 0 of Sziget.

Tickets

A camping ticket is priced at £150; a non-camping ticket is priced at £125. Beware of false tickets, tickets are not yet on sale. Buy your ticket only from authorised vendors. To buy tickets, click here.

Day Tickets will be priced at 40 Euro. Day Ticket is valid from 02:00 a.m. until 08:00 a.m. on the day after they were purchased. You have to leave the festival ground or buy another day ticket after the expiration. Camping is only possible if you buy (and wear the wristbands for) two or more day tickets for consecutive days.

Children aged 10 and under have free entry if accompanied by an adult. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Camping information

Camping Tickets are valid from 9th August 10:00am, Non-Camping Tickets are valid from 11th August 06:00am. Both types are valid to 16th August 08:00am. Daily ticket holders can enter the festival site from 02:00am to midnight on the day indicated on the ticket, and can stay until 08:00am the following day.

For those wishing to extend their stay on at the festival once the validity of their ticket has ceased, a new wristband can be purchased. Those who don’t buy a new one will be obliged to leave the festival site.
