This years solstice was greeted by the 22,000 people, ranging from aging hippies to young families, at Stonehenge this morning with loud cheers to the beat of drums.

Unlike last years perfect sunrise, a few minutes before the time of sunrise it started to rain - there was no sign of the sun.

By ten past five, people were streaming back to the car parks: either off to their jobs, wanting to get out of the rain, or to go and watch the football.

The sun finally broke through shortly before 7am (according to the guy on Radio 4 ... I was on my way to find a TV).

English Heritage, who run Stonehenge, see this third year of free access as another success. A few people were arrested, for drink and drug offenses.
