Solfest is a non-commercial music and arts festival with a warm atmosphere set between the Solway Firth and the Lake District mountains in picturesque West Cumbria, as always it features a massive range of musical and cultural adventures.

Solfest has something for everyone. The main stage in the past has seen bands such as The Wonder Stuff, Croft Number 5 and The Proclaimers. The Dance Tent has seen Eat Static, Michael Dog and other DJ’s. There’s the Dry Stone stage with many smaller acts such as Mark Saul and Rory McLeod, and a children’s area with workshops to amaze, educate and enthral kids and adults throughout the day.

A number of acts have been announced. On the Main Stage are the Levellers, The Beat, Chumbawamba, Show of Hands (with guest Miranda Sykes), Neville Staple (formally of The Specials) and his band, Thea Gilmore, The Bikini Beach Band, Tragic Roundabout, Alison Dewar, and Fiamma Fumana. For the full list of confirmed acts (as available) see here

The festival policy is "to appeal to four generations of people, from the tiny babies through to the great-grannies and great-granddads (and everyone else in between) and have them all partying together at the same time – and lovin’ it!"

Solfest includes: free camping (quiet and noisy!); free parking (next to your tent); plenty of food from around the world; a licensed bar (or you can bring your own); beautiful sculptures; a healing area; adult workshops where you can try things such as belly dancing and wood turning; craft stalls; walkabout performances and theatre; a baby area; fire performances; an acoustic music session tent, and friendly and helpful stewards.

The festival has gone carbon neutral, and during the event they will be handing out, free of charge, 5000 baby trees to plant on the festival site, use in tree planting workshops and to give away to folk who can give them a good home ("Remember: A tree is for life, not just for Solfest")!

Tickets are on sale, priced at £50 for the first 1500 tickets, otherwise £59. Children aged 5-12 £12, under-5s are free. Call 01900 602122 to buy.

More information will be here when available.
