Ruisrock is one of Europe's oldest rock festivals and takes place annually on the picturesque island of Ruissalo, Turku, in Finland. The dates for the fortieth anniversary are from Friday 9th, to Sunday 11th of July.

The acts confirmed are Billy Talent, Belle & Sebastian, NOFX, Rise Against, The Sounds, The Ark, Flogging Molly, Baroness, Florence & The Machine, Porcupine Tree, Arch Enemy, The Sonics, Prince of Assyria, Amon Amarth, The Baseballs, Amorphis, Disco Ensemble, Don Huonot, Irina Ismo Alanko & Teho-Osasto, Kotiteollisuus, Lauri Tähkä & Elonkerjuu,Michael Monroe, Mokoma ,Pmmp, Popeda, Samuli Putro, Scandinavian Music Group, Sonata Arctica, Stam1na, Tarot, Vesa-Matti Loiri, and Viikate.

On site

The festival has four large stages, and a few small ones. There are the usual kind of festival fare food, plus merchandise areas, stalls and Guitar Hero stands etc.In 2008 there was even a circus.

Camping

Camping spaces must be booked beforehand in the official camping site of Ruisrock. There are also accommodation options available on the island, but they tend to get booked up quickly, so it is best to book early.

Getting there

Most festival goers go by train from Helsinki which has transport links to Europe. Turku does also have an airport with air links to Belgium, Denmark, and Poland.
