For a third year Roundhouse Rising returns to take place at the Roundhouse in London between Thursday 14th and Sunday 24th February 2013. The event presents new music acts across a wide range of genres.

This festival offers live music, workshops, masterclasses and creative projects, across eleven days in February 2013

Other activities

In addition, Rising will feature a whole range of projects, panels, talks and workshops. Roundhouse Rising will also feature a photography exhibition mentored by Jill Furmanovsky, a sound installation in collaboration with Swifty and live visuals created by Eyesonthewall.

Workshops are aimed at 14-25 year olds who are looking to gain a wealth of experience in the music industry whilst the panels will discuss a range of topics.

Creative projects

Rising:Futures 14 Feb / Studio Theatre / 10am-4pm / £6 / All Ages
Partnering with Sound Connections, Rising:Futures brings together speakers, artists, politicians and journalists for a big conversation with a diverse group of young people, educators and those from the wider arts world. Across the day they will be discussing some of the issues around education and asking what is the future of new music in the UK?

Rising Remixed 19-23 Feb / 10am-4pm / £20 / Age: 14-19 (ticket includes entry to 30/30 Album Launch party on 14 Feb)
On this 5-day intensive course, work with cutting edge industry professionals, including Spider Johnson (Lee Scratch Perry) and Hannah Holland (Batty Bass Records) to create remixes of tracks by emerging talent as featured on Roundhouse's 30/30 project. At the end of the five days, there's the opportunity to DJ the track at the festival.

Generator - Tipping Point Masterclasses 16 Feb / 11-5pm / All Ages / £6 day ticket (first 25 receive free ticket to Tipping Point Showcase)
Generator's masterclass sessions bring together high profile music industry guests to discuss issues facing emerging artists. Sessions include:
Breaking Through The Noise – Getting Noticed. Guests include Tom Cotton (Amazing Radio) and Kev Jones (Communion Music)
Marketing Your Music in a Digital Age with Nikke Osterback (Atlantic Records) and Alistair Tant (Essential Music)
Labels and Publishers - a New Approach with Ed Horrox (4AD) and Ryan Farley (Warner/Chappell)

On site

There will also be the café and several bars, as well as some events moving off-site to East London.

The Roundhouse is more than just a venue. Each year it helps 3000 11-25 year-olds from all backgrounds to realise their creative potential through opportunities in music, media and performing arts. Much of this work takes place in the Paul Hamlyn Roundhouse Studios - a dedicated creative centre for music and media production, broadcasting, performance and rehearsal, where young people work with industry professionals to learn and develop their skills.

This event does not have camping but there are a number of hotels, hostels and guest houses in the area.
