I’m disappointed they aren’t wearing Goth make up and I can’t see Amanda on keyboards as the PA is in the way and so I can only see the drummer Brian, who I may hasten to add is awesome! One of the best drummers I’ve ever seen, he even swaps over drums in his kit during solos! Wow!

They play tracks from both Yes, Virginia and the songs are pretty unknown to me, they have great musical ability though, and sound more like a four piece than a duo. The crowd clearly know a lot of their songs, me I just know the biggies the recent ‘Coin Operated Boy’ and the new single ‘Back Stabber’.

But I do like their energy and their lyrics and delivery and when they start up playing Black Sabbath’s War Pigs cos this is Reading it’s fantastic, even without a guitar. Talking of which at some point Brian swapped his drums for guitar and some theatre with Amanda in the centre of the stage.

As I said it’s his drumming and her voice that were really inspiring that and the lusty gothic tinged lyrics of depression and obsession and illicit seduction it’s all rather fantastic, the only downside being the lack of cabaret, and stockings. I was looking forward to that!
