The 15th Fierce brings together some of the world's best performers and artists in a series of events, performances and interventions which will take place in galleries, theatres, clubs, warehouses and streets across Birmingham from Friday 4th until Sunday 6th October 2013.

Line-up

Fierce consistently engages new audiences with a broadening programme, delivered in conjunction with a wide variety of producing and presenting partners within Birmingham including IKON gallery, Warwick Arts Centre, Birmingham Museum and Arts Gallery, Birmingham Rep, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Town Hall Symphony Hall, mac (Midland Arts Centre) Birmingham Hippodrome, and the CBSO.

Highlights from this year's programme include live music from rising electronica star Nicolas Jarr accompanied by hallucinatory visuals from New York's Joshua Light Show; plus muic from Eat My Noise, Quilla Constance, and Birmingham children with Eva Mayer-Keller produce Sounds LKike Catastrophes; an opening night feast from radical food designers Blanch & Shock featuring interventions from performance artist collective A Wolf in Winter; a looping balsa wood structure which will be erected in the city centre by artist Denis Tricot; and a variety of contortionism and dance-based performance pieces, one of which - by artist Franko B - will feature a duet with a life-sized animatronic polar bear.

In addition, there will be a literally 'hypnotic' immersive theatre piece from Lundahl and Seitl, who will be collaborating with hypnotist Sue Fox. Heather Cassils the LA-based body builder and artist will also be performing, challenging how the female body is depicted in mass media.

There will also be an exhibition of teenagers' creative responses to undergoing cancer treatment, 'Fun With Cancer Patients'. Devised by Brian Lobel (who suffered from cancer himself as a teenager), this project will challenge the myths and taboos of living with cancer..
