Mad Ferret gets its name from a play on the famous Madchester phrase, 'Mad For It' and started in 2008. The festival takes place on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th June, at Platt Fields Park, Fallowfield, in Manchester.

Performing across 9 stages, will be acts including The Streets, Roots Manuva, Stanton Warriors, Freestylers, Filthy Dukes, Finley Quaye, Claude VonStroke, Pendulum (DJ set), The Travelling Band, Franz Ferdinand DJs ft. Paul Thomson, Kidkanevil, Bailey ( BBC 1Xtra), Caspa, Dan Black, Micachu and The Shapes, Peggy Sue, Spokinn Movement, Homecut Gideon Conn, Ernies Rhythm Section, Monkey See Monkey Do, Box Kid, Riz MC and Paper Tiger plus DJ sets from Up The Racket, Hot Club, Sex with Robots, Prostitutes & Policemen, Will Tramp, Ryan Hunn, and Cats In Paris, amongst others.

Doors times: Friday - 5pm, Saturday - 12 noon. Big Brother's Jack Whitehall will be comparing the comedy tent, aka The Slut Hut, featuring The Comedy Sluts amongst others. The Caribbean Umbrella Collective will be creating a place to chill out and the event will also feature the Circus Society, Bike Polo Allstars, Kids games for Adults, Alice in Wonderland Tea Party, Ferret Factor, Burlesque dancers, poetry and live art from Sketch City.

The festival also gives Manchester's community of artists and performers a stage, paintbrush or a patch of grass on which to perform, attendees are also encouraged to get involved. Amongst other local community groups running activities and workshops will be Nigerian arts group Creative Hands Foundation and Friends of Platt Fields Park, on hand to help people get creative. Selected sculptures created at the festival will remain in the park for the people of Manchester to enjoy.

As part of their commitment to building communities and being a force for good, Mad Ferret will be donating 5% of its profits to the Bollocks to Poverty campaign. Bollocks to Poverty is the youth arm of ActionAid – a charity that works in Africa, Asia and the Americas, striving to end global poverty and social/ political injustice.
