The Wirksworth Arts Festival takes place from Friday the 8th of September to Sunday the 24th of September 2006.

The festival is located in the rural town of Wirksworth, Derbyshire and exhibits works by over 200 leading artists and craftsmen, displaying them in private homes, gardens, shops and churches.

A mix of art, drama, film, music and poetry will all be on display at the festival, along with creative arts workshops, including jewellery making, stained glass, textiles and paper sculptures. Ticket prices vary from £3 to £40 depending on the event.

This year's performance programme promises performances by international artists, collaborations by local musicians, comedy, dance, jazz, children's puppeteers and a music event for young people on our opening night.

“The key initiative for this year is the fusion of art and performance with exciting events taking place all around town. There will be creative energy for all to enjoy” says Tiina Taatila, Festival Manager.

The Festival doesn't just exhibit creative talent; it also harnesses and nurtures it through a range of art workshops, including felt making, jewellery, stained glass, ceramics, Chinese knotting, graffiti art and many more for all ages.

There will be more information here when available.
