Merthyr Rising Festival is a music, arts and ideas festival that celebrates working class culture and resistance at the birthplace of the red flag, Merthyr Tydfil, Wales over the weekend of Friday 25th to Sunday 27th May 2018.

The festival takes place during the anniversary of one of the very first organised uprisings by workers in 1831 known as the Merthyr Rising, which was the violent climax to many years of simmering unrest among the large working class population of Merthyr Tydfil where it is believed that for the first time the red flag of revolution was flown as a symbol of workers' revolt.

Today it's celebrated annually with a cultural festival of music, arts, political discussion and ideas during the anniversary of the events of 1831.

Tickets are on sale, priced at £40 (camping extra) for the weekend
Day tickets cost £15 for Friday, and £20 for Saturday or Sunday.

Individual camping tickets are available for just £35 for the whole weekend (Friday 25th May until Monday 28th May).

Campervans can park for £40 per camper van for the whole weekend.

Camping now been agreed with local officials at Cyfarthfa Park grounds, a 10 minute walk to the festival venue and is also home to the Cyfarthfa Castle Museum, woodland walks, children's park and splash play area. For more information about the park visit www.cyfarthfa.com
