The dates for Meltdown 2011 are confirmed as Friday 10th until Sunday 19th June 2011.

Each year MELTDOWN offers a guest director the chance to produce his or her own fantasy festival, mixing artists and art forms, reflecting their own personal passions and interests. The director for 2011 is The Kinks' Ray Davies.

Line-up

Just announced:
Clive Anderson and friends on Sunday 12 June for an evening of music, comedy and drama to launch SANE's 25th anniversary Year of the Black Dog campaign. Special guests include Ray Davies, Jane Asher, KT Tunstall and The Leisure Society, with more to be announced.

Former members of The Kinks play a unique show of Kinks material and rarities on Tuesday 14 June, featuring special guests Robyn Hitchcock, Steve Diggle of the Buzzcocks and more to be announced.

The line-up includes Ray Davies, The London Philharmonic Orchestra, Crouch End Festival Chorus, The Fugs, The Sonics, Wire, Arthur Brown, The Legendary Pink Dots, The Alan Price Set, Nick Lowe, Lydia Lunch, Madness, Yo La Tengo, London Sinfonietta, Terry Jones and Michael Palin, John Cooper Clarke, John Otway, and Roger McGough.

Ready Steady Go!

Saturday 11th June will see the re-creation of 1960s British TV pop show Ready Steady Go!, a pioneering music programme that featured legendary performances from The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, Dusty Springfield as well as many appearances by The Kinks. This special Meltdown edition includes original stars from the era alongside contemporary artists specially chosen by the show's director, legendary TV producer and Dusty's manager Vicki Wickham.

Film and talks

On Tuesday 14 June a film that inspired Ray Davies' early song-writing 'Screen Epiphany' will be shown. 'The Meltdown Observer Talk' on Saturday 18 June will see the Festival director in conversation with filmmaker Julien Temple. Michael Eavis will talk about forty years of the Glastonbury Festival on Friday 10 June. On Saturday 18 June, Apple Records A&R man Peter Asher reprises his 'Musical Memoir of 1960s and Beyond' and Paul Morley hosts a tribute to the late Tony Wilson with the aid of music and rare footage.

Come Dancing
Over both weekends, The Royal Festival Hall's Clore Ballroom will be the location for post-show dancing and DJ sets. Further details to be announced.
