The Liverpool Summer Pops is a month long music festival that takes place throughout July 2009, which has a new look this year. After eight successful years the festival is rebranding to broaden the appeal of the Pops by offering not only the big names but also grass roots acts, with new home grown and international talent.

The Summer Pops Festival shows announced so far include Simple Minds, Buzzcocks, McFly, Rhydian, Only Men Aloud, The Drellas, The Australian Pink Floyd Show, Jools Holland, Simply Red and Deacon Blue, all firm Pops favourites over the years.

The festival will also be hosting fringe events throughout the month of July, bringing together different venues in the City and put on shows of different genres at places like, The Philharmonic, The Empire and The 02 Academy. The first fringe show to be announced is The Lotus Eaters at The Philharmonic on Saturday 25th July.

The Liverpool Summer Pops Festival will become an event that encompasses rock, pop, blues, country and classical and not forgetting the yearly charity event, Beatles Day.
