The 4th annual Liverpool International Music Festival takes place between Thursday 21st and Sunday 24th July 2016 at multiple venues across the city. LIMF 2016 will feature Europe's largest free music event at Sefton Park, LIMF Summer Jam, the innovative Commissions and the pioneering LIMF Academy. The event will focus on the theme 'Redefinition'.

The event moves away the bank holiday so that the city does not have to pay a premium for services and infrastructure, and can invest more in the event itself and make it an even better experience for the tens of thousands of people who enjoy it each year

Line-up

Liverpool Arab Arts Festival (LAAF) and Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF) are partnering for the first time to showcase some of the hottest Arab musical talent during the Sunday including 47Soul, Tarabband, Yaz Fentazi Trio, and whirling dervish Mahmoud Pharaon.

LIMF Summer Jam is headlined by Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Sigma, and The Wombats, plus Lianne La Havas, Netsky, Kwabs, Ms Dynamite, Maverick Sabre, Shakka, Samm Henshaw, John Power, Dave McCabe & The Ramifications, Michael Head & The Red Elastic Band, Seani B, and China Crisis, with more acts to be announced.

Curated by 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson, Curated by 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson, LIMF explores the redefining sounds of British soul music over the past 30 years. The event will feature a special house band collaborating with some of the most important names in British Soul. The live event will be followed by an exclusive DJ led after party hosted and featuring sets by Gilles Peterson and Thris Tian. Featuring a special house band collaborating with Incognito, Omar, Carleen Anderson, Ady Suleiman, and Swindle.

House music is truly a global phenomenon. In key cities around the world various dynamic producers are trailblazing a more progressive sound - redefining what you consider House Music to be. LIMF travels to three international music cities with Liverpool-based DJ and Producer Youdef - returning home to make four records that reflect the sounds of those different cities and his hometown of Liverpool. The process will be documented, with both the music and shorts being released. The project will culminate in a special live show, in association with CIRCUS, at LIMF 2016. Line up Dennis Ferrer, Reboot, Hector, Lewis Boardman, Yousef, and more to be announced soon.

For the last 40 years the punk-indie attitude has been prevalent in Liverpool and has led to the creation of some of the most influential cultural movements the city has ever seen. These are movements that have connected not just with the people of Liverpool but with the world. LIMF showcases those key venues, artists and scenes. This is the inter-generational story of Liverpool’s underground music scene and how it has redefined itself in terms of music, fashion and popular culture over 40 years!

This year's Family Area offers a mix of beautiful, immersive spaces. Whether a gamer in the traditional sense with giant snakes and ladders, twister, hungry hippos and Kerplunk? or love a spot of street theatre or lose yourself in the musical soundscape of the magical maze, there really is something for all the family. The incredible Coulourscape will be presenting ‘Symphony of the Senses’ whereby visitors are welcomed through the interconnected chambers to experience the intensity and subtlety of colour. Enjoyed by young and old alike, it creates a relaxing, beautiful and calm experience that will invigorate and inspire.

The festival offers no accommodation at the event. There are plenty of accommodation options available in the city.
