Sometimes you're just in the right place at the right time. Deciding that watching a random band was the way forward when there was nothing else to do, and Turbofruits were the random act of choice this fine Saturday afternoon. I should have realised something was going on when we had to walk through a complex double barrier system to get into the Carling Tent. Whilst watching them, a fellow photographer passed on the golden nugget of information, and it all started to make sense. No wonder there was no-one in Bramham Park who had heard of Hooks for Hands.

The rumours were confirmed when the stage crew rolled out a drumkit which bore the name of Leeds' favourite sons. The tent, it is fair to say, went mental, as up until this point, I am pretty sure no-one really believed it was going to happen.

The tent, surprisingly, was not at all full when the band took to the stage and launched into 'Every Day I Love You Less and Less'. They looked delighted to be playing here, and the energy they threw into the show was impressive to say the least.

Kaiser Chiefs

It was a short set, clocking in at around thirty minutes, but they managed to squeeze in the best of their two albums. 'Ruby', 'Everything Is Average Nowadays' and 'The Angry Mob' did the business for the most recent long player, whilst a scathing take on 'Modern Way' and the obvious choice of set closer 'I Predict A Riot' both provided ample chance for the Leeds crowd to stretch their vocal chords.

This really is what festival dreams are made of - stumbling across a household name playing a low key set on a small stage. This will have made many people's weekend, and for that the band should be applauded. The fact that they delivered a sterling set might help a bit too!
