The Inter Varsity Folk Dance Festival (IVFDF) is the UK's longest running folk festival offering a series of concerts, ceilidhs and barn dances from a selection of folk artists.

The 61st IVFDF takes place from Friday 2nd until Sunday 4th March 2012, at The University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen, in Scotland.

Line-up

The first acts to be confirmed are Megson, Monster Ceilidh Band and the Touch, Vertical Expression, MP and The Expenses, Rhodri Davies, Clachan Yell, Frank Thompson's Scottish Dance Band, Granite City Blues, and the Aurora Ceilidh Band. There's more still to be announced.

The festival is aimed squarely at students (although anyone who feels they can keep up is welcome) and run by a different university each year. IVFDF is a non-stop weekend based (fairly broadly) around traditional forms of music and dance.

Tickets

Early bird tickets are priced at £25 for the weekend, £15 for students or children (aged 7 to 16). To buy tickets, click here.

Morris and Rapper tour

On Saturday afternoon there is expected to be a Morris and Rapper Tour through the centre of Aberdeen. It will take in the main sights and a number of traditional pubs. The full itinerary will be announced when finalised.

The festival will also feature Ceilidh dances, together with a range of workshops, sessions, Morris, Rapper, French, Contra, and the infamous survivors ceilidh on the Sunday afternoon to round off the weekend.

Camping

IVFDF traditionally offers indoor camping.

More information will be here when available.
