The Inter Varsity Folk Dance Festival (IVFDF) is the UK's longest running folk festival offering a series of concerts, ceilidhs and barn dances from a selection of folk artists.

This year the IVFDF takes place from Friday 5th until Sunday 7th March, at Durham University, Durham, Northumberland.

Line-up

The concert performers are Eliza Carthy and Aidan Curran, The Young Uns, and Fidola. The evening dances will be with 422 and Martyn Harvey, Scottish Country Dance with Robert Whitehead and The Danelaw Dance Band, Vertical Expression, Whapweasel with Gordon Potts, and George Unthank's Northumbrian Ceilidh with Moorcock.

The festival is aimed squarely at students (although anyone who feels they can keep up is welcome) and run by a different university each year. IVFDF is a non-stop weekend based (fairly broadly) around traditional forms of music and dance.

Tickets

Early bird tickets are priced at £24 for the weekend, £14 for students or children (aged 7 to 16). To buy tickets, click here.

Morris and Rapper tour

On Saturday afternoon there will be a Morris and Rapper Tour through the centre of Durham. It will take in the main sights and a number of traditional pubs. The full itinerary will be announced when finalised.

The festival will also feature Northumbrian Ceilidh dances, together with a range of workshops, sessions, Morris, Rapper, French, Contra, and the infamous survivors ceilidh on the Sunday afternoon to round off the weekend.

More information will be here when available.
