From the organisers of HowTheLightGetsIn comes Crunch: the art and music festival at Hay which takes place from 5pm on Friday 18th until 7pm on Sunday 20th November 2011 on the edge of the Black Mountains at The Globe at Hay, Newport Street, Hay-on-Wye.

Crunch will bring the same mix of thought-provoking debate, incisive talks, infectiously danceable music and late-night parties and this year there's a whole lot more. The festival has doubled in size and with three new venues, a new art pavilion to explore, multiple musical events and performances running simultaneously across the weekend.

Line-up

The musical line-up includes: British Sea Power; Polinski; Mara Carlyle; Franz Nicolay; DJ Scratchy; Emily Barker & the Red Clay Halo; Beaty Heart; Plus underground folk star Chris T-T, gypsy-cabaret chanteuse Patti Plinko and the Maddening, Dan Hayes of the JJ Horns (oft-seen with Man Like Me and the Pogues) bringing his own brand of gobby folk as yoB, Bristol party-starters Pardon My French DJs, Client’s Kate Holmes at the DJ decks, and rising Cardiff singer-songwriter Siôn Russell Jones.

There's also comedy, spoken-word and more from Book Club Boutique founder Salena Godden, Sprats writer John-Luke Roberts, masters of sketch comedy Max & Iván, skeptical stand-up rising star Iszi Lawrence and satirical culture experts the Gentlemen of Leisure + more.

Talks and debates are set to feature artists Susan Hiller, Jake Chapman, Cedar Lewisohn and Bracha Ettinger; Serpentine Director Hans-Ulrich Obrist, author of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time Mark Haddon, former RSC Director Adrian Noble, Arts Council Wales chair Dai Smith, BAFTA-award winning artist Alison Jackson, film director Nicolas Roeg, controversial art historian Julian Stallabrass + many more, debating everything from the individual artistic process to the arts' power (or lack thereof) as a political tool.

Elsewhere on site, the Crunch Art Pavilion will showcase some of the best of contemporary art with exhibitions from leading galleries including Paradise Row, Poppy Sebire, EB&Flow and Sumarria Lunn.

More info

In The Globe At Hay will be big debates during the day and live music and parties in the evening. Expect winter-warming mulled cider, hog roasts and nightly displays of pyrotechnic wizardry outside in the globe field.

Although the festival site and the programme of events are growing, organisers will keep the informal atmosphere and the intimate feel that has made the festival such a special event.

Accommodation

This festival does not offer camping. A limited number of Festival Live tickets with accommodation are available with a choice of single or double tickets. There also accommodation options in Hay, as well as a Bedfinder service offered by the festival, for a small booking fee.

There will be more information here when available.
