Hovefestivalen mixes international acts with Norwegian bands in a unique setting on an island outside Arendal city. The event lasts five days with the sun only setting for two hours each night. The festival dates have been moved so that Hove will be in the same period as the Roskilde festival.

Date change

The dates for the festival have changed to Tuesday 29th June – Friday 2nd July. The campsite will still open at 12.00 on Sunday 27th June. The arena will now be open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. There will be no bands playing on Saturday 3rd July and the campsite will now close at 12.00 on Saturday 3rd July instead of Sunday 4th July as originally advertised.

Line-up

The acts confirmed include Muse and Arcade Fire confirmed as this year's headliners with NAS, Damian Marley, Massive Attack, Drake, Alexisonfire, Anne Marie Almedal, As I Lay Dying, Atreyu, Beach House, Dizzee Rascal, Ellie Goulding, Empire Of The Sun, Every Time I Die, Florence + The Machine, Gallows, Japandroids, JJ, Lindstrom & Christabelle, Neon Indian, Serena Maneesh, The Antlers, The Pink Robots, and Them Crooked Vultures also confirmed. See bottom of listing for full line-up.

Besides the music there's art installations, scenes, yet-to-be-released movies and ecological food.

Ticket information

A festival pass is priced at 2050,00 NOK(approx £220), campsite pass 400,00 NOK (approx £43). To buy tickets, click here.

There will be a limited number of 1 day passes available because the primary focus of the festival is the complete experience, not a series of concerts.

Camping

Those wanting to camp at the festival will also need to purchase a camping pass. A camping pass will give admission to the festival campsites and a camping place. Festival goers will be issued with a separate camping wristband at the festival and this will only be given to people who have purchased a Campingpass and either a Festivalpass or a Dagspass. You will not be allowed in the festival campsite if you only have a Campingpass.

This year there will be no separate tent passes and you will not need a tent sticker. In order to accommodate everybody in safety and comfort organisers request that you please bring a tent which is designed for the number of people sleeping in it. There is also a quiet camping area.

Ethos

Hovefestivalen tries to set new standards for environmental awareness and campers must sign eco-contract that promises not to leave a 'single footprint' behind. There is also a multimedia seminar where environmentally aware artists will meet with eco-activist politicians to discuss the future of the earth. There will be ongoing train and bike campaigns throughout the festival, and a hydrogen boat showcase.

Enviroment Programme

The festival was the first music festival in the world to join UNEP's (United nations Enviroment Programme) Climate Neutral Network (CN Net). CN Net is a new UN-led initiative in the fight against climate change, as UNEP wants Hove to take the lead in a European network of climate friendly rock festivals. The thought is that rock festivals could create a new blueprint for carbon neutrality in the entertainment business.

Green credentials

The natural surroundings/green scenery as much a part of the festival as the music. Since its inception in 2007, the Hove Festival has focused on green issues like carbon neutrality, recycling and energy from alternative and renewable sources.

The Hove Festival is the first festival outside of Britain to join Festival Republic, the organizers involved with Reading/Leeds Festival, and Latitude.
