Hovefestivalen tries to set new standards for environmental awareness and campers must sign eco-contract that promises not to leave a 'single footprint' behind. There is also a multimedia seminar where environmentally aware artists will meet with eco-activist politicians to discuss the future of the earth. There will be ongoing train and bike campaigns throughout the festival, and a hydrogen boat showcase.

The festival is the first music festival in the world to join UNEP's (United nations Enviroment Programme) Climate Neutral Network (CN Net). CN Net is a new UN-led initiative in the fight against climate change, as UNEP wants Hove to take the lead in a European network of climate friendly rock festivals. The thought is that rock festivals could create a new blueprint for carbon neutrality in the entertainment business.

The natural surroundings/green scenery as much a part of the festival as the music. Since its inception in 2007, the Hove Festival has focused on green issues like carbon neutrality, recycling and energy from alternative and renewable sources.

The Hove Festival is the first festival outside of Britain to join Festival Republic, the organizers involved with Reading/Leeds Festival, Latitude, and Glastonbury.
