"’Ere! It’s Hawkwind!" echoed around the Uncut Stage as aging festival goers pricked up their ears and realised who had taken the stage and were playing their brand of space rock at full tilt, with hands flying up fretboards and saxophone blasting over the top.

And they were dressed for psychedelic rock in shirts that put my own glowing garments to shame! And they weren’t the only ones dressed up, there were a few ladies on the stage too.

Space Ritual

One off her tits so to speak racing around with her boobs bouncing out of her dress at every opportunity, the other in lacy white underwear, wings and a helm dressed as some avenging angel. This kind of distracted me from the set they were playing especially when a French maid took to the stage complete with feather duster! But I remember singing along to the old hits like Brainstorm, a great rendition of Master of the Universe and Silver Machine from early Hawkwind albums.

Unfortunately I missed the finale as I’d been inspired to do the Dropzone a vertical drop of about 30ft as Phil said, it was like a hanging without the rope. Shame really because as I looked across at the stage I could have sworn I saw one of the dancers dressed only in the tiniest Orange G-string!

They are the veterans of the festival circuit and still show the newcomers how it’s done, as always a brilliant, highly entertaining, energy charged show!
