Benicassim has something to offer across the whole musical spectrum, as indie and rock bands rub shoulders with DJs and more experimental music projects.

Celebrating it's 22nd year, the International Benicassim Festival, FIB, near Valencia, Spain is back for 2016 from Thursday 14th until Sunday 17th July. With camping thrown in from 11th until 18th July with the ticket price, all night music over 4 days, and sited just walking distance from the beach and a huge water park.

Also confirmed are The Soft Moon, Dorian, Breakbot, Tijuana Panthers, Maadraassoo, John Grvy, Pacosan and Argentine band Capsula who recorded a reworking of Bowie's 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust & the Spiders from Mars' will on Saturday 16th open the Las Palmas stage with them playing the album in full as a tribute in Capsula: Dreaming of Ziggy Stardust.

As well as a diverse array of musical performers, the festival has an extensive bill of non-musical entertainment, including dance, art, theatre, fashion, silent disco and short films.

On site

There's the usual markets, bars, and food outlets. Several other celebrations of the arts take place within the Benicassim festival, including a short film festival, a fashion weekend, art exhibition, and a festival of dance and choreography, with educational arts courses on top of all this provided by local university, Universidad Jaume I.

Organisers will also be introducing a new stage to the festival for 2016 - the South Beach Dance Stage - a stage that will host DJs and the best live acts around in electronica and dance music and will form a part of the extended South Beach zone at the festival.

Tickets are priced at £108 for 4-days with 8 days of free camping.

Taking minors

Minors under the age of 18 may enter FIB Heineken accompanied by their parents or legal guardians. In order for the Organisation to grant entrance to minors under the age of 18, a National ID Cards or passports of the minor and the accompanying adult must be presented, plus proof of legal guardianship issued in their countries of origin must be presented.

The parent or legal guardian of the minor will be required to sign a document assuming all responsibility, direct or indirect, for the entrance of the minor to FIB. In the event that a parent or legal guardian refuses to sign this document, the Organisation reserves the right to deny entry of the minor to the concert venue.

The failure of a parent or legal guardian to comply with the obligations relating to the responsible protection and custodianship of a minor will authorise the Organisation to expel said adult and the accompanying minor from the venue.

Travel tips

The new Castellon Airport just 20 minutes from the festival site will be opening this autumn. Ryanair will be flying to and from the UK.

Get travel insurance and check what it covers. Apply for a European Health Insurance Card. Leave a photocopy of your passport with your family in the UK. Fill in the last page of your passport with your emergency contacts. When you arrive, make sure you lock your valuables in one of the lockers available on site. If camping, don't leave anything valuable in your tent. Carry a photocopy of your passport with you and leave the original locked away. Have one of your cash cards and some cash separate from the rest of your valuables just in case. Be extra careful in large crowds, keep your cash in a zipped pocked or bag. Follow the instructions of the event organisers and Spanish Police whenever necessary.

After it's over, be extra vigilant, you will be tired, which makes you more vulnerable. Don't fall asleep on the beach if you have your valuables on you Public transport can be busy so give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport or to get your train.

If something goes wrong, your local Consulate is available to offer help and support if you have been hospitalised, arrested or are a victim of crime.
