Crediton Folk Weekend 2008

The dates are confirmed as Friday 18th to Sunday 20th April, with entertainment Friday night, Saturday from noon onwards, and Sunday lunchtime.

Artists already booked are: Jon Brindley, Cappella, Bill McKinnon, Huw Chidgey, Elowen, Trefor & Vicki Williams, The Tindalls, John Morris, Jon Hare, Malcolm Gurnham, Patti Smith & Ned Clamp, Dave & Anne Reader, Jerry Bix's new group "Shake a Leg", Quodlings Delight, Jerry & Anne Bix, Tommy Purkiss, George Papavgeris, Andrew McKay & Carole Etherton, Cruel Folk, Parker & Watts, Ella Edmondson, Jim McAdams, Kathannie, Tony Truscott, Alison Ingham & Russell Hitchcock, Derek Burgess & Kitty Vernon, and Alan Whitbread.

There's also Morris & Mummers entertainment from Earlsdon Clog Morris, Shakespeare Mummers, Frome Valley Hoodening Play, Mari Lwyd, Lodestone Border Morris, and Bristol Morris Men, and bellydancing from "Bellylaughs" Belly Dancers. This year David Craner (Crewkerne‚s Official Town Crier) will be announcing at lunchtime Saturday & Sunday, the Morris Display teams and Mumming performances in his own imitable style.

Vilv Swine (The Saxon Fyrd) will be demonstrating their battle tactics to repel the evil Cornish invaders with their savage Viking mercenaries on the Saturday early afternoon in the field opposite the Ring of Bells'.

The weekend is rounded off with an extra event of a Mad Hatters Tea Party, a bangers & mash tea with an Alice In Wonderland theme (fancy dress preferable), happening in the Half Moon Function Room from 3pm on Sunday 20th April.
