2009 is the twentieth anniversary of Bluesfest - The International East Coast Blues and Roots Festival held (for the last year) at Belongil Fields, Byron Bay, Australia From Thursday 9th until Monday 13th April 2009.

Bluesfest offers all kinds of blues music, world music, roots music, and a hybrid of those and other cultural styles under one umbrella - Blues & Roots Music. Bluesfest has continued to evolve incorporating surf culture, Latino Music, African Music, as well as political and environmental message artists.

The acts confirmed for 2009 include two exclusive Australian performances by Ben Harper and Relentless7, John Butler Trio, Missy Higgins, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Lucinda Williams, Zappa Plays Zappa, Angelique Kidjo, Tinariwen, Eric Bibb, Seasick Steve, Tony Joe White, Ruthie Foster, Blind Boys Of Alabama, Watermelon Slim & The Workers, Toni Childs, Luka Bloom, Alpha Blondy, Alabama 3 - Acoustic and Unplugged, The Easy Star All Stars, Augie March, Blue King Brown, Saltwater Band, Sonny Landreth, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Benny Gallagher, Bob Log III, Eugene Hideaway Bridges, The Bamboos, Watussi, and Lowrider. The early bird ticket offer has now finished. Adult 5 day tickets are priced (in Australian dollars) at $399, 3 (consecutive) days $299. Child (age 5-14) tickets for 5 days are priced at $100, a 3 day tickets is $75. There will be one day tickets available.

All Kids under the age of 5 are free. Children between the age of 5 and 14 inclusive have to be in the supervision of a Responsible adult. Other ticket options are also available. To buy tickets, click here.

Camping will be available at the Festival. There will be a regular shuttle service from the Festival to and from Byron Bay. In addition there are several options for public transport to and from the Festival.

The Festival is a licensed event with plenty of bars to pick from. No Alcohol or Glass allowed. There is a wide variety of food at the international food fair, which is held inside the festival.

Bluesfest has had many years experience as a green event organisation incorporating green ethics, the principles of environmental sustainability and each year they actively pursue opportunities to implement these principles in the management of the festival.
