Tent Watch: let's stamp out theft at festivals

Video of the Day - for Sat 3rd Dec 2016

For the last 2 years design studio, Outside The Line, has been developing a campaign to help lower theft at Festivals.

As a troupe of avid festival goers they have all at one time or another gone thought the frustration of having something pinched at a festival, which inspired them to create this campaign. Now they're taking it on the road to other festivals that might need some help in lowering theft in their camp sites.

Each festival they have brought the campaign to has seen a significant reduction in reported thefts. Last year there was up to one in every 500 guests getting something stolen at certain events, Wilderness and Wireless were amongst the worst for theft last year according to local police forces and acquiring information using the freedom of information act, with Download having the least reported thefts.

The campaign was at Shambala this year, and Chris Johnson, Director, Shambala Music Festival said, "Professional, innovative and humorous with their approach. They delivered a campaign tackling a complex issue, successfully engaging the audience and exceeding our expectations - absolute gold dust."

They have been endorsed by the Association of Independent Festivals and are presenting the campaign their conference next year.
