Asian Dub Foundation premier 'Access Denied' live

Video of the Day - for Thu 28th Jul 2016

With WOMAD starting today Asian Dub Foundation have released this completely stripped back first ever performance of ‘Access Denied’. The lyrics, written by Aktar talk about how access to such a basic resource as water can be denied to so many but wasted by the privileged few, especially in countries that prioritise wars and false material needs.

Steve from the group said,  "Dr Das is our bass player and as such is the fundamental defining sound of the band , hence the dub in our name. For SOFAR he switched to playing percussion on a Jerry Can thus making this show entirely different. It was the first time we’d performed “Access Denied” and the first time we’d done anything like that at all. Thanks to Sofar for the challenge!"

This performance took place at at Sofar London on July 19th, 2016. WOMAD joined forces with global music series ‘Sofar Sounds’, to provide this special WOMAD 2016 preview and to give audiences the chance to discover the magic of live music from across the world.
