The Richard Thompson Electric Trio have been announced as the first headliner for the Purbeck Valley Folk Festival which takes place at Corfe Castle, Dorset over the weekend of Thursday 16th until Sunday 19th August 2018. Richard Thompson last appeared at Purbeck in 2015.

Purbeck Valley Folk Festival organiser, Catherine Burke says: "We are over the moon to have one of the all-time greats of folk music returning to headline for us. I love this festival because of the amazing atmosphere made by the people who come. There's loads of brilliant music; we're music-lovers so we make sure it's always really great music. We love having the support of so many local people in the Purbecks and we're lucky to have a fabulous venue at Purbeck Valley Farm. Best of all, there's a wonderful feeling among people who are here to enjoy the music."

The festival is currently announcing a different band each day via clues on its twitter and facebook, and also revealed so far have been Trad Attack!, and local duo Ninebarrow.

Alongside the music the festival includes kids entertainers, storytellers, craft workshops, music workshops, theatre workshops, song sessions, poetry, Purbeck Rising and open mics.

Tickets are now on sale, priced at £106 for an adult with camping, or £96 without camping. a youth (13-17) ticket is £56 with camping or £46 without camping. A child (4-12) ticket is £26.
