The dual Reading and Leeds Festivals, which happen annually over the August Bank Holiday weekend in those respective cities, have announced the after-hours Alternative Stage line-up brought to you by Transgressive Records. This is at Reading on the Friday, and Leeds on Saturday/Sunday night, with the stage running from 9.30pm until late.

At Leeds Festival on the Sunday to close the stage are XL Recordings' New Gen & Friends collective, which features the freshest array of young rappers, singers and dancehall gurus currently making new music in the UK. With a cast of special guest performers revealed on the day, this is set to be a truly unique and exclusive moment. The New Gen compilation dropped towards the end of 2016 on XL and has since received rapturous praise worldwide - this very special performance will feature some of the best new voices in the country, all sharing the same stage. Joining them will be South London's Section Boyz, with young MC Benny Mails warming up the crowd, and first on will be HMLTD.

For the Saturday night at Leeds, after headlining Reading & Leeds in 2016, Foals return for a very special DJ set, with the band’s Edwin Congreave spinning a memorable set of classics and deep cuts.

At Reading on Friday night sees a DJ 'battle' set take place, hosted by BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens, and featuring DJ sets from Circa Waves, The Big Moon, Marika Hackman, Jen Long, and Bless DJs, all pitted against each other for who can get the biggest sing-alongs combined with specially-commissioned visuals and perhaps some surprise appearances.

Elsewhere on the bill there's a few more additions. For the Main Stage are Royal Republic, (Reading Sunday; Leeds Friday), new for The Pit are Dream State (Reading Saturday; Leeds Sunday), while for the BBC 1xtra Stage there's Yung Fume (Reading Friday; Leeds Saturday), and Lotto Boyzz (Reading Sunday; Leeds Friday).

The headliners at this year's Reading & Leeds Festivals are Eminem, Kasabian, & Muse, joined a line up of the biggest names in modern music and across the musical spectrum, including the likes of Major Lazer, Haim, Bastille, Liam Gallagher, Two Door Cinema Club, At The Drive In, Migos, You Me At Six, Fatboy Slim, Halsey, Charli XCX, Glass Animals, Korn, PVRIS, Wiley and many more. For all of the line-up details including full day and stage splits please see the Reading Festival line-up page. or the Leeds Festival line-up page
