The Kyle Falconer Band have been announced for Carnival Fifty Six , the new two day non camping festival which takes place at Camperdown Park, Dundee on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th August 2017.

Kyle Falconer is the lead singer from The View, and the band, which comprises Kyle on vocals and guitar, brother Ronnie Falconer on guitar and Billy Mitchell on bass, is the new project from the Mercury Prize-shortlisted, platinum-selling musician as he embarks on a solo career. Carnival Fifty Six is the first chance for fans to hear the new material which is expected to be released later in 2017.

Speaking about today's announcement, Kyle Falconer said, "This is a really big deal for me. Obviously I grew up just across from the park in Dryburgh so to come here this summer and play is brilliant. The View had talks before about coming back to perform but nothing came of it so I'm glad I'm getting the chance to do it. It's brilliant that Carnival Fifty Six is coming to Dundee. The organisers have some really big names and as soon as it was announced I wanted to be a part of it."

Festival Director Craig Blyth added, "We are delighted to have Kyle, one of the biggest talents ever to come out of Dundee, playing in his back garden at Camperdown Park with his new band. The Kyle Falconer Band are tipped for great things and we are really excited the guys have chosen Carnival Fifty Six as their first ever festival to perform at."

They join a line-up that has Mark Ronson, Rudimental, Clean Bandit and Basement Jaxx (DJ set)joined by many of the country’s most exciting breakthrough bands including Boxed In, Prides, Be Charlotte, White and Elle Exxe, plus a top flight dance offering which includes Sasha, Hot Chip, James Zabiela, Harri & Domenic, and Dixon Avenue Basement Jams. For full details announced so far including day & stage splits please see the line-up page.
